Klangkuenstler first made his debut on our SUM 5 VA with his massive track ‘Continuum’ and now returns for his first solo outing on Second State with two absolute bombs primed for decimating any dance floor they encounter.

‘Razor’ kicks off the EP in a concept where fierce, rapid drums and 90’s inspired leads result in a nostalgic yet modern twist to a timeless idea. The title track ‘Dunkle Illusion’ initiates the B-side by utilizing an ominous acid line with sinister intent slithers between racing percussion creating an undeniably wicked atmosphere. Wrapping up the short player is Alignment’s remix of ‘Dunkle Illusion’ which sees the original reworked into a powerful display of devilish melodics while never losing the intensity and force of the original’s character. This EP perfectly blends Techno with Rave sounds, and there is no better way to welcome Klangkuenstler to the Second State family.

An original vinyl DJ since the age of 16, James D is a Spanish-American Music Producer and DJ based in Czech Republic. At the very young age of 14, while visiting his mother's family in Valencia, Spain, he and his Spanish friends would sneak into some of the 'ruta del bakalao''s most renowned clubs like Puzzle, Chocolate, Barraca, Spook, and various others. Bitten by the electronic music bug and back in D.C., at age 16 he passionately began to spin on vinyl turntables in his parents' basement, developing a love for Gabber, Industrial Hardcore, Chicago Hard House, UK Hard House, Acid Techno, and many more of the scene's most underground subcultures in Electronic Music. With nobody who could help him achieve his goals in life (music), he truly is a prime example of a self-made DJ and music producer. 

Releasing music under labels like Tronic, Union Three, AnalyticTrail, Say What? Recordings, Nucleon, Black Falcon Records, Autektone, Unity Records, Agile Recordings, IAMT, and many others, he has garnered played and charted support from the likes of Joseph Capriati, A*S*Y*S, Spartaque, The Yellowheads, T78, Monika Kruse, Roberto Capuano, Oscar Escapa, Alex Di Stefano, Karotte,  Zimmz, Drunken Kong, Nakadia, Drumcomplex, Gaston Zani, Sisko Electrofanatik, and many others. His songs have been played on Drumcode Radio, DJ Mag exclusive sets, Tronic Radio, and others.

There is a saying that, "God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers." Despite his lack of affiliation to any religion, there could not be a more fitting phrase for this hardened, gifted, and painfully underestimated Techno artist. Hailing from Fairfax County and Alexandria City, VA in the outskirts of Washington, D.C., he had no choice but to develop as an artist completely through his own exploration and self-teaching.

Washington, D.C., one of America’s murder capitals that until very recently had no club scene, James D has had to struggle with the hard fact that it is not what you know, but who you know, especially in today's Techno scene. Those turntables (and over 500 vinyls) would follow him to Spain, UK, and now Czech Republic, along with an Access Virus TI2 Polar synthesizer, a Mac computer, and loads of analog and software studio gear he has mastered over the years to start driving at his true calling.

His sound is raw, driving, emotive, and very thematic, usually revolving around the concepts of perseverance, street life, and profound intellectualism over materialism. Doing this for undying passion and not fashion, he holds the deepest respect for the original tradition of Techno music as it came into existence in the slums of Detroit, practicing the music like a martial art.

James D has delivered his sets at notable venues and events like Machac Festival, Roxy Club (Prague), Altenburg 1964, Cross Club (Prague), Amsterdam Dance Event (Netherlands), Maximize Events Helsinki (Finland), Cube Boat (Prague), Aquaphonic Festival (Liberec), Cosmodrome (Helsinki), Stuck in a Loop (Amsterdam, NL), Utopia Club (Turku), The Box (Perugia), Watt Club (Pilsen), Fleda Club (Brno), pul.pit (Brno), Exit Club and Enter Club (Brno), Perpetuum (Brno), and many others. 

With all of the above-mentioned numbers and facts in mind, only time will tell what great things this promising producer will bring to the scene in upcoming years -- patience and perseverance will make this not a question of "if", but "when".
