'Lets 'ave It!' is a brand new classic trance series which I have based around those full on, 140 BPM, end of night closing sets that used to send us home on a massive high. They will all feature a much tougher, tech trance finish just to mix things up a bit.

Trance Classics (Let's 'ave It!) (Episode 1)

Released in the UK on October 21st 2002, this probably isn't the first Gatecrasher album that springs to mind when you talk about their compilations over the years but it holds a special place in my heart.

During this period I was travelling up and down the country going to various club nights and visiting friends who were in their first year of university in various places around the UK. This album came with me everywhere and has been played to death ever since then. 

This album has 3 of my all time favourite tunes on it and I've managed to collect all of my favourite tunes from the album on vinyl so I thought it would be a good idea to reconstruct the album with tunes from each of the 3 discs morphed in to 1 simultaneous mix. The only disclaimer is the orginal album has the Dub Remix of "Alone" and I have used the vocal.

I had a 90 minute slot for this event so I tried to re-create a 4am Cream @ Amnesia style set from the late 90s. A lot of the tracks here I rarely play nowadays, but have to admit I really enjoyed putting this mix together. I've recently been reading up on definitions of Trance music which may sometimes be considered the most ambiguous genre of dance music. "Trance is usually characterised as having anthemic, epic, rifting and psychedelic qualities with the term "Classic" for those songs that would truly describe what Trance was supposed to be."

Whilst I would generally agree with the description, Classics are subjective and it is down to personal preference. Good and bad music is what it has always been about for me. The good music is able to stand the ultimate test of time and even after many years, listeners can still clearly recall that distinct vocal hook or melody in the back of their minds.

I'm pleased to introduce you to the second volume of Classic Trance. I had a lot of fun reliving cherished memories whilst creating this mix during lockdown. The variety of tracks selected worked really well together and from the very start of those 3 hours, it clearly sets the tone of greater things to come. It's like a hypnotic rush of Trance bursting with all that energy and excitement!!
