How Blue Is Your Hell - James Kasper

James Kasper’s songs are as sweetly somber as the grey, rainy west coast of Vancouver Island he grew up on. In 1998, Kasper was an opening act for the legendary Ray Charles at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre in Vancouver. Since then, he has collaborated with such notable musicians as Bob Egan (Wilco, Blue Rodeo) and Bob Wiseman (Blue Rodeo), in addition to opening for Grammy Nominee Maria Muldaur and Juno Winner Carole Pope. In 2008, Monday Magazine named Kasper the “Hardest Working Person in Local Music.” His influences include: Glen Hansard, Damien Rice, Keaton Henson, Mark Kozelek, Gillian Welch, and Aimee Mann. Kasper is set to release his sixth full-length album Harbour in November 2020. Exclaim! says,  "With the burning wail of his harmonica and his smouldering lyrics, Kasper artfully wrenches empathy from listeners. The noir side adds depth of character and individuality to his music, helping to distinguish him from the thousands of other singer-songwriters in the country roots genre."
