Violet (Original Soundtrack)

"Places We Could Have Gone" was initially a piano sketch for my 2018 solo piano album Sanctuary Sessions. I recently revisited and recorded the idea in the same space, then further manipulated the recordings through my modular rig to add atmosphere. The track took on an incredibly nostalgic quality that made me reflect on the past year in lockdown and dream about all the new people and places that we might have missed out on during that time.

Recently, the wonderful pianist Garreth Broke sent me a lovely composition filled with strong melodies and cascading multi-tracked piano parts and asked if I would be interested in adding some textures. Of course I jumped at the opportunity. The result is a blending of mangled eurorack effects, layered synths, and his original piano themes.
