To relaunch his seminal imprint, Infrastructure New York, David Sumner aka Function presents his new 12", Green EP. Celebrating 27 years of Function releases this year and the label’s 25th anniversary, the label will serve as an outlet for his new material, reissues of out of print classics from Synewave, Sandwell District and Ostgut Ton (and of course, Infrastructure), as well as developing new artists and launching a long awaited Bandcamp page - exploring the annals of nearly three decades of the Function sound.
 
As a member of the Sandwell District collective, Function, from 2007 onward was instrumental in cultivating and ushering in a new sound of dark, cerebral hypnotica - forcing the hand of change in global techno. Green EP serves as a testament to this, further exploring these depths. The EP pays homage to the day when David arrived in Berlin with his green suitcase where his record “Isolation” on Sandwell District was released, hitting the ground running and spring boarding into an incredibly successful career, becoming a stalwart DJ/producer, after years as a struggling artist.
 
Green EP encapsulates the same raw power and hypnotic energy of his genre defining Sandwell District releases Isolation, Anticipation and Variance, updated with a modern flair. Subject f (Function) has clearly transcended, as expressed through the opening track “Initiation” arriving at his “New Designation”. On the b-side Function communicates his divine alignment through the broken beat, etheric “Aeternum (Meridian)”. Finally, Function closes Green EP with a live extraction of “Desire and Memory”, a brooding club stormer in contrast to the more experimental leanings of the original version, which appeared on Rrose’s label Eaux.
 
Next to releasing a new EP and restarting the label, an attached Bandcamp page and label webshop will be launched. These portals will in time see the release of previously out of stock releases as well as re-issues and unreleased Function material, next to new releases by other artists. No doubt fans will be excited!
 
One thing is clear: Function is back on track and more on form than ever!

Iraqi by blood/Oaklander by upbringing, Lolsnake is a Berlin-based visual artist and DJ whose fulminating sets have taken centre-stage at some of the city’s most vaunted hangouts. It was studying neuroscience that took them from California to the UK, and there that they first discovered a taste of the creative freedom that club culture could offer. In 2014 they made the switch to the German capital, where a chance opportunity to throw a party at makeshift Neukölln locale Internet Explorer kickstarted a spate of FLINTA-focused parties that eventually landed them regular gigs at Tresor’s proxy venue OHM. From there the scope grew and both spoken word/performance art series queeeirdos and the later iterations of dance-geared and Säule-based party programme Weeeirdos took flight. An assemblage of creative disciplines and artists from visual art to comedy to VTSS to Ellen Allien, Parrish Smith and Schacke, the format has been a breeding ground for ideas and sounds, first in Berlin and now farther afield in cities like Prague and Copenhagen. As for their own output as in-demand selector, it’s fiery, arrow quick techno, a coup de foudre from the heart that takes no prisoners, be that at De School, Blitz or Transcendence Seoul. Unsurprisingly there’s a music label in the works, and this next instalment to whet your appetite while you wait. Bassiani Podcast 223 is a heady three-hour mix recorded live at the club back in June. Galloping beats bent on worldwide acclaim, tenacious and razor-sharp techno from a singular and fast-rising musical talent.

Melania . is a young and very dynamically developing Polish artist based in Berlin. Resident of Über Berlin, part of Advanced, and member of female:pressure, her musical journey is already wild and adventurous. Even with a short time to gain experience until today, she has already seen two festival performances getting added to her track record - in South Italy and Poland - and a range of other frequent performances Europe-wide where she has left everyone with jaws down, including of course our founder and senior manager who has over 10 years of experience and a 4-digit number of artists in his scouting experience.  Alongside her DJing, she is also firmly focused on her own productions which have seen the light in respected labels or will come to fruition through upcoming releases in the coming months. She delights in dirty, heavy and energetic industrial Techno/Experimental, periodically combined with a creative touch of emotional melodies and vocals. This sound evokes what is beyond the words, reaches directly to the heart and unleashes the soul. She takes risks and treats techno as it needs to be treated by combining every possible sound in her sets and therefore making it having no boundaries and limits - being free. Because that's what techno is: Freedom of acting, doing and being. Each of her sets is a story with a complex plot, keeping her audience in constant suspense and anticipation. Her unique vibe relies on unpredictability, harmony and constantly being on the move. Keep your eyes on this lady and be ready to experience live by yourselves her intelligent track selection and skills, at our upcoming -and very exploding- Advanced events.
