Barcelona-based artist Marina Herlop joins PAN with a striking new single, titled "miu". The artist invites the listener to step into her otherworldly dreamscape and in turn go down a sonic rabbit hole into her garden of forking paths. Resisting attempts to interpret her work, Marina Herlop prefers to create open worlds which nourish and stimulate the imagination. Experimenting freely with konnakol syllables and carnatic rhythms harnessing the processed human voice and electronics, "miu" can be treated as a black box or cenobitic toy which the listener can project their desires and dreams onto.

Following the release of their critically acclaimed second album, ‘Isles’, Bicep continue to develop their Feel My Bicep imprint with a 12” from a fresh signee, Fasme. The French producer makes his debut on the label with a new 3-track EP ‘Home’.

Fasme is the project of Tom Ferreira, who only dropped his first EP in April last year and quickly caught the attention of Bicep after discovering the track ‘ICI’ on YouTube. Bicep first played these tracks in their FMB Radio show on Apple Music and a Friday Guest Mix for Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC 6 Music.

His melodic sound is created on analog synths, evolving between acid, electro and braindance. Describing himself as “more of a live performer than a studio man”, Fasme will be supporting Bicep in Paris in October to celebrate the EP release.

To honour the frequent mood changes and feelings of relative isolation experienced in the last 2 years, the A side aims to reconnect those lost moments with "Déjà Vu" & "Future Retro" - both tracks channelling a UK centric sound for the dancefloor and a further proof of the depth and quality found across Pugilist's back catalogue. The B side flaunts a completely parallelled sound palette with "Static", a down tempo dubby track partnered by the beautifully stylish "Sky Blue". Three years after their first collaboration, culminating in the release of “The Passenger”, Om Unit and Martyn are back on 3024 with another four track exploration of tempo and vibrations on a new EP called “AJ^6”.

The two ‘veteran’ producers have been highly prolific over the past years, with Om Unit making waves with his massive Acid Dub Studies project as well as new work under his Philip D. Kick alias, and Martyn spearheading and mentoring a robust group of new musicians responsible for no less than five (!) compilations on 3024. What brings the two producers together in the studio once again is the constant hunger for new and interesting sounds on the outer rim of the ‘bass continuum’. Instead of tirelessly rehashing old tropes they are continuously inspired to write new music that’s both current as well as firmly in their aesthetic profile.

‘Basilisk’ and ‘The Trenches’ are great examples of the duo blending odd tempos with dub wise heaviness. ‘Basilisk’ has already been doing some serious damage on the dance floor with its punchy 107 beat structure and headzy breakdown, while the almost imperial march of ‘The Trenches’ introduces a bubbly bass line. ‘Illroy’ and ‘Dragonfly’ both inhabit a dreamier, more melodic universe and have a timeless, ambivalent quality to them, somewhere between a lost b-side of an early 00s Hospital Records release and something on Scuffed. Drawing a line under his Pulse series, Pev brings a fifth and final dose of positivity to the dance with a distinctly techno-oriented focus and space for the odd curveball. 

Strident opener 'Pulse XVII" bookends a lean, subtly stepped mid-section workout with pearlescent synth strings and chord stabs patched in for maximum Motor City uplift. 'Pulse XVIII' operates within a taut house framework, stirring up a forthright jack track with the sparsest of ingredients drawn from the palette of bassweight 4/4 that has run throughout the Pulse series. The tempo noticeably nudges up on 'Pulse XIX' — a nagging dub techno variation where the genre's usual blown-out dreaminess is replaced with snappy urgency. That leaves it to 'Pulse XX' to close the series out with a sharp left turn towards light-footed leftfield steppers gear with alien hooks — an approach that harks back to earlier Pev output, but given a fresh lick with the bright-eyed production that has informed his latest phase of studio exploration.
