This is a solo piano arrangement pairing the traditional Christmas carols, "O Come, O Come Emmanuel" and "What Child is This." As a kid I was twice kicked out of piano lessons for not practicing. I loved to sit at the piano and investigate chord relationships, write melodies, scribble little songs down but I DESPISED trying to learn what someone else had written. (O, how I wish I had stuck with it).

When I was about 14, I heard a recording of pianist, George Winston and I was hooked; simple, rich (and sometimes even melodramatic)melodies, patient motif development, lush and expressive soundscapes. I couldn't get enough.

By the time I made it to college in the music business program at Somewhere in my freshman year in the music business program at Belmont University, I wrote this Christmas arrangement and it has stayed with me over the years. The piece was inspired by the emotional movement of George Winston's piano playing and the shadow-covered hope of the Advent season. 

"This, This is Christ the King! Whom shepherds guard and angels sing. Haste, haste, to bring Him laud!  The Babe, the Son of Mary."

Part 1 was a solo piano presentation of the motif. Part 2 is a more cinematic and electronic approach to the same motif.

They attended a songwriting workshop where I was teaching and this is a recording of the first song they wrote in their heart-language.

A cinematic, piano driven music cue for advertising. I built the piece around a field recording I did in the spring of 2012. The voices are three young Saura-speaking tea pickers. They attended a songwriting workshop where I was teaching and this is a recording of the first song they wrote in their heart-language. This simplified version omits the girls singing and focuses attention on the piano.
