Little track I made about a month ago - been away from home so just finished mixing it (as good as I'll get it myself... I really need to learn more about dat)

Made with samples from Bend Me, Shape Me by The Models.
Main synths used were the DeepMind12 for the chords and the TD-3 for the acid bassline. Did use the MS20 for some weird resonant sweep things later on in the track...

This is my entry to a competition ran by Pink Noise Glasgow. We were to create a track based on our isolation 'bothy' during the covid-19 pandemic.

My personal ‘bothy’ is my parents house in a small town in the                          
countryside.  

It’s situated in a valley and is reminiscent of my                        
childhood. This led me to sample the sounds around me and create                        
a piece of childish IDM . Cycling past Grey Mares Tail, I became                          
aware of how rural the backdrop to my youth was. This contrasts                        
with the usual city sounds I’m now accustomed to.  
Working on this piece, I realised it had become atmospheric and                      
less child-like - reflecting my experience of returning home as                    
an adult.

"Big White House"
Buildings can speak to us and our ideas of beauty, even without housing something we respect. This was the song that initially inspired the concept for the EP.

"Denman Road"
The history of a building changes with the people who live inside it. Sometimes the history associated with a building can be so extreme that we feel the need to change our environment.

"Unnatural Spaces/Head in the Clouds"
When moving from one building to another there is an abrupt change to our sense of home. People feel nostalgic for their old ‘home’ yet are excited by the idea of a fresh start. The song questions when and how the feeling transitions from an old space to a new one.
