Outplay co-label boss Junktion has just delivered an outstanding four track EP 'Tributes'. Taking a slight side step from his usual classy deep house output this one is infused with a real disco know-how.

We have a full interview incoming with Junktion next week, in the meantime we asked him to delve into his collection and pull together some of his favourite disco edged tracks into a mix for us. As always he delivered a rather brilliant mix for us.

Bio:

Enrique Jimenez aka https://soundcloud.com/bigpack is the https://soundcloud.com/housesaladmusic label boss out of Mexico City. He discovered his love for electronic music in the mid 90's when he attended house and techno parties with local DJs. From then on, his intimate love affair with house music began. The sound of Chicago with labels like Cajual and Relief and Prescription brought him the most inspiration. His whole trajectory changed and music became his life. The task of discovering music became an infinite loop of collecting records. After 11 years of touring dance floors as a spectator and amateur DJ, in 2005 he acquired his first turntables, technics 1200s. When he finally felt he had an extensive vinyl collection, he decided to venture into the world of DJing professionally.
Now, with some years of experience, Big Pack has played in key clubs all over Mexico, opening for artists such as Kevin Saunderson, Kenny Larkin, Derrick Carter, Phil Weeks, Wally Callerio, Andrew Emil, JT Donaldson , Oliver Dollar, 1200 Warriors, to name a few.

He is busy with several internet radio show residencies on Sugarshackradio.com, Radio Webphre and his own podcast & label, House Salad Music, featuring the best DJs in house music. He is in his 700th episode of HSM podcast and has yet to put one of his own mixes on this platform.

Convinced of the timelessness of music, his mixes are a real tunnel of time, where he plays classics combined with the freshest of modern house.

Here comes Part 1. of my mix at Monaco's Buddha Bar. 
Magnificent place, classified as Historical Monument, with adulterated cuisine and a more than valuable sound system.
Very nice, relaxed, sophisticated or even eccentric customers from various countries that have particular taste for food as much as for good music !!!
Here you never hear about most charted artists such as David Guetta or Rihanna, just like in any other famous Monte Carlo's club. Resident Dj Papa only spins music of his own good selection made of years of experience.
I had the pleasure and honor to give it a go as a guest, just after his fine lounge dj set for dinner time, as they know how to do in Buddha Bar. I started a 111 Bpm to go progressively to some more danceable tracks.
Going back and forth from classic themes to edits getting closer to Buddha Bar's customs, you can easily let yourself go for some very good stuff : Carl Craig, Nicolas Jaar, Innervisions, ... keeping it all smooth and breathing not to get too close to what I'm used to play at party time.
This first part starts slow to go straight to 124 Bpm. I hope you'll like the mix as much as i enjoyed making it in this place full of magic.

My Influences go right back to the rave scene, that's what got me hooked on dance music. Fast forward a few years and house music started grabbing me ! There's too many amazing DJs and producers to list, that I have followed over years, but its definitely helped shape my sound.

After collecting vinyl from a young age, i decided to get my first set of turntables and practiced every spare minute to the annoyance of my parents, haha ! 
1996 was the year i got my first proper gig and i can say i still love it now just as much. Then things progressed shortly after and more regular bookings started  coming my way to play various venues/nights in and around Birmingham. All vinyl back then...

In 1999 I met Andy Ward who had just started his (Vocal Booth) night at the newly launched Ministry Of Sound Bar where I was lucky enough to play regular, and then Indi bar, where Vocal booth moved to. Getting my name on the same flyer as some of the International DJs like Terry Hunter, DJ Disciple, Dino & Terry etc was amazing.
 
Following on from that Ive been playing regular on the Birmingham scene over the years, for the likes of Fuel, Vocal Booth, Bakers, Miss Moneypennies and other various nights across the city, Rainbow venue, Spotlight, Mama Roux, Digbeth Dinning Club, Uber, also getting the opportunity to play in Nottingham, Manchester London and Spain.

Ive had various residences over the years, and I'm currently one of the residents at Cuban exchange that's been going since 2003, shout out to Adam Turner! Body People/Uber and Vocal Booth weekender(Spain)

I was also part of Movementz 

MOVEMENTZ are a collective of five DJ-producers based in and around Birmingham. The team, who have been going for many years, consists of LEIGHTON ASHCROFT, TIMMY VEGAS, ADAM TURNER, JAMIE LOVE and KAYUM ABDUL. Bored by their local club scene, they decided to put their sound out there in Great Britain and beyond. On their musical journey they met ALI TILLETT from Warm who was organising the Sonar Kollektiv club night in London. Through him as well as the Sonar Kollektiv forum they got in touch with TRICKSKI who were so taken by MOVEMENTZ early work 29 Calls that they have chosen to make it the third in their Members of the Trick 12" series for Sonar Kollektiv. 

The tune combines influences like early KERRI CHANDLER with METRO AREA and a pinch of CARL CRAIG to create an infectious emalgamation which, as the other Members Of The Trick releases, posses great crossover potential. The song came about on the 29th birthday of LEIGHTON ASHCROFT, hence the title of this piece which is reminiscent of the early days of house music. As TRICKSKI’s hits Sunshine F**k, Sweat and Hormony have received extensive plays from people such as GILLES PETERSON, MAD MATS and CARL CRAIG, and are also favourites of the MOVEMENTZ crew, it was an honour for them that their 29 Calls be chosen by TRICKSKI for release on the Members Of The Trick sublabel.
