     It was a reckless foray into the lovely dark;
an exercise in poverty.

    I met people who practiced evil as a way of life.
I also met many wonderful people.

    I needed to know,
How deep does it run?

   The exquisitely pure sorrow 
that permeates every atom of this world.

    So I went out and I looked in everyone's eyes
and it was there every time.

    It was the Word, having taken the form of emotion
because that is the best place to hide.

   I drew my last breath
and I went down into places only water would go.
