My winning mix from Muzik Magazines bedroom bedlam dj competition.
the mix was recorded in october 1997 on 2 technics 1210's and numark mixer. The sound quality is not up to todays standards but its still ok. if you dont know, Muzik Magazine had a monthly dj comp where each winner got a gig at a major club (james zabiela also won one month)

as it was recorded on cassette tape there is a short break in the middle of the mix (where the tape flips over). The mix was recorded Live in one take and comes with the occasional mistake, its raw and has loads of energy and a selection of great tracks.
sadly soundcloud couldnt cope with a 90min WAV. so its a 320 mp3

for me its one of my favorite mixes ive ever done.
the article in the picture says its from feb 1997 but its feb 1998.

They also gave rare interviews, reflecting on a deep musical connection that began in 2007, the legacy of minimal and lessons from a life spent in DJ booths the world over.

Tyrant Essential Mix 2000

FUSE is one of Europe’s most established parties, and its cast of resident DJs might just be the main reason for its success. One of the party’s longest-running residents is Archie Hamilton – alongside his long-time DJ partner Rossko, he’s been playing at FUSE since they first started out in East London in the late 2000s.  

More recently he’s also become known more widely across Europe – if you first discovered Hamilton’s music in the last couple of years, there’s a good chance this would’ve been after stumbling upon one of his dub techno rollers on YouTube, or getting played by a prominent house DJ. Rumour has it he’s also the mystery figure behind Digwah 02, the huge Nightmares on Wax re-edit that got rinsed by Ricardo Villalobos and crew over the summer.

Ahead of his set in RM1 alongside Rossko this Friday, we contacted Hamilton to ask for a mix to demonstrate his sound. When he got back to us, we were pleased to receive an hour of trippy and meditative soundscapes that we’ve come to know him for.

The Essential Mix is a weekly radio show on BBC Radio 1 currently broadcast between 0:00 - 2:00 AM UK time on Saturday morning. Originally broadcast on 30 October 1993, the Essential Mix features contemporary DJs and music producers of electronic dance music. The show has been presented since its inception by Pete Tong and features an uninterrupted two-hour mix from a different artist each week, overlaid with occasional continuity announcements delivered by Tong. With a broadcast run in excess of 25 years, the Essential Mix is one of the longest-running programmes in the current BBC Radio 1 schedule, and is one of very few Radio 1 shows which is not broadcast live.
