Disclosure - Higher Than Ever Before (Jamie A Remix)

First of many releases. Can't wait to share more, and then some!

Dominoes is a unique take on a pop ballad, with an upbeat chorus, relying heavily on a catchy hook, distorted synths and piano accompaniment. 

Dominoes fuses a grand, pop ballad with a simplistic, catchy hook chorus, to tell a trust and heartbreak story. The lyrics are deliberately somewhat ambiguous, despite being centered around the theme of the board-game Dominoes and domino lines.

This went through a ridiculous amount of rewrites, writers block was killing me off ,but I think we got somewhere in the end. Went for a natural sounding vocal, i.e. no tuning, and tried to recreate the 'George' verb cus why not eh?

Again not sure what you'd call this, but hope you enjoy regardless!

My laptop could not handle this one, I think I might have killed it off.  Oops (Crackling for days with everything on eco) ... regardless...

Well its safe to say a hefty number of plums went into the drums and the bass this time. 

BUT, what'd that leave me with? 

That's right, a distinct lack of plums. Though a lack of plums was probably essential to hit that note at around 1:50.

Fashionably late as always and  I'm sorry I couldn't skimp on the artwork. Gotta look nice you know? Make it feel finished! Haha (Hopefully you can see what it’s supposed to be a trippy version of!)

- I Wrote the bassline, using the bassline provided

- Did the singing and writing thing that I do (Lyrics and meanings below text btw)

- and helped out with some of the arrangement. 

After all that, Dylan on the otherhand:
- Chopped the clav into smithereens,
- drums into disco

- and Replayed the clav part with Juno, Rhodes and Piano

SOME LYRIC NOTES AND CONCEPTS: 
- The concept is ambiguous but centers around everything feeling mix-matched and uneasy.

- "Plastic blue moon", is a play on a once in a blue moon (hardly ever) and (plastic, fake, it won't go away unless you deal with it yourself) 
,but then the character starts questioning themselves, 
(i.e. is it really so rare for this kind of thing? "have I spoken (decided) too soon?")

- Lines like “Walking on plasticine” suggest the character is struggling to cope with the reality of it all
- the “different beat” line is followed by an oh which is placed to match the lyric

- The bridge deliberately fumbles the phrases painted seas and waving trees showing they’re losing their mind a bit ,reminds you they may be in the wrong and there’s always two sides to story

I tried a ridiculous amount of completely different ideas before I landed on this one (around 15 full ideas)

BUT I  couldn’t ignore Howard’s quality lyrics ; I had to have a go at a proper Christmas song, while attempting to match Howard lyrically. Was it the right move? Only time will tell!

Also, S/O SG Lewis, crazy big inspiration for me, not necessarily for this song tho ahah(+ I'm sorry Conor, I only just found your stuff, my bad )

PRODUCTION WISE:

• Chopped the piano chords to make a new progression (to avoid there being a lack of stems in the beginning)

• Chopped the Celeste to make a supporting call and response lead to the vocal

• Whistle shaker 

• 2:08 ish I think I lost my plums, again in homage to BeHoward #6 

- (The laughing at the beginning is me absolutely collapsing after trying to imitate a drunk, lazy, Ho Ho ho)

- Still not missed a single BeHoward, I’m addicted aha

14th submission now, bleeding eck. 

Unlike a lot of the others, for this one I spent pretty much a full 48 hours. I tried to keep the stems at the forefront, and build upon them while getting a tad poetic-y at times. Hopefully this fits the bill! 

Rhodes, Rhythm, vocals and darker undertones, does it get more Jamie A than that?

From Myself - Disclosure ft. Jamie A #BeHoward14

Jamie A is a singer-songwriter, producer and mixing engineer working from his home studio in the UK, that has been supported by the some of the biggest names in House and UKG – Disclosure, kryptogram and MJ Cole. 

After a successful independent singer-songwriter release with Taren Gopi, Blood in the Water, and a big production based remix release with the widely known Norwegian DJ and producer Matoma and the band A R I Z O N A, Heart So Big (Jamie A Remix), Jamie has signed his newer vocal lead tracks to numerous Deep House labels (ChillYourMind, Lilly Era, Gahara)

However, despite the House music focus of this time, his sound is ever evolving. 

Inspired by all music from the past and present, Jamie often delves into side-projects far outside of this comfort zone, consistently pushing the boundaries of his capabilities.
