There's no doubt that DJ Koze's "Pick Up", a monster chunk of sweeping disco-house bliss built around elements borrowed from Melba Moore's "Pick Me Up, I'll Dance" has been one of the biggest cuts of 2018. Here, Yam Who delivers his own house-friendly rework of Koze's classic as part of Midnight Riot's "Dubplate Disco" series. We'd argue that it's even better than Koze's cut, primarily because it gets to the point far quicker than the German's stretched-out epic and utilizes more chorus repetitions. Arguably even bigger is flipside "Disco Madness", a thunderous and seriously heavy disco-house re-edit of a driving Teena Marie cut that's almost worth the admission price on its own.

"Super smooth groove-smiths Whiskey Disco have distilled another disco bomb here. Thoma Cher is the supplier of the good times via, firstly, the pure party gem that is "Holiday Holiday", on an EP that marks Cher's first solo outing on this label. "Dancer" is an uplifting track with a warped bassline that wraps itself round the sliding hi hats and loose drums as boogie synths add colour. "Be My Love" is an instantly recognisable gem with a fat bassline slowed to a sensuous pace overloaded with breathy vocals. Great stuff."

Jamie Bull is a DJ, Club Promoter and Radio Producer. He is mostly associated with his residencies at 'HomoElectric', a legendary queer club night in Manchester. He has been voted Manchester's City Life DJ of the year, and now holds several residencies in clubs and bars across London and the north west. Jamie’s bookings extend further afield too, with stints at Space in Ibiza, V Festival, the Isle of Wight Festival and Electric Elephant in Croatia, as well as regular appearances at Dalston Superstore, Sink The Pink and XOYO in London. 

Jamie’s DJ style is straight-up celebratory. His first love is disco, but he loves to weave other genres into the mix, playing anything from hands-in-the-air house to Balearic pop.
