5. SILENCE SNAKES

Late in the morning down at a restaurant

Parisian Love Locks

heavy heart placed on the altar
today is the day that i no longer falter
i will kiss no hand that makes me suffer

eager hand lays by my side
but weary from years of being defied
but today is the last day of that pity
today i keep nothing but my integrity

lady of the lake, what have you seen
could you bare to share, those terrible scenes
of young lovers sleeping on your shore
making fists at the god of war

lady of the lake, won't you join us in the mortal
i once heard a priest call birth the last portal
the moon is so thin down here
i awoke with a single tear, for

i had to leave, the one whom i love truly 
our time in the abyss ended far too unduly
damn each valley between us, my dear

the call for sanity was justified and needed
as i flew across the land of the still and defeated
and from flying so high , i looked down
and each fence appeared a stitch for the eternal gown

of the paintings that we stole and then burnt
i cant remember what your forehead looked like, just that it hurt
in the ash light, to recall how we touched that night in the windmill
i was bright and you were done
you were an aching sun

and i had to leave, had to leave my aching sun, whom i held so dear
damn each valley between us, between where you lie and here

on the first day this lake took all it could take
from at the bottom of it's chest and spread out to the gate
where the keeper was letting the dead in and out
later that evening i cried for those caught in the south

but weeping brings rivers that soon dry out
and you're left with red dust, sore eyes and a drought
I would weep eternally if it brought you to me
i dont know if any sailor could survive that kind of sea

then i rose , my metamorphosis was shown
familiar among my own kin
i knew, we are of the same bone

Aching Sun

i want sandals and a blank manuscripts 
i want sunburnt skin aching for sea washed lips 

i want empty days with their empty bliss 
and i want you unsure as you are 

i want a garden and someone to rely on 
i want my freedom, to reach through my kingdom 

i want a bone breaking trip, on a hot burning ship 
and I want you as unsure as you are 

darling wont you share your

I want to remember this vague memory of us 
nervous like children in the top of a bus 

I want to remember, the fear in the air 
we caught it like fishermen, like a fresh lock of hair 

like mine constantly falling, in swirls on your face 
and i really cant help it, i push my arms into your space 

and i light up and let in 
and i'm suddenly through 
but when i have to leave 
my sorrow will be 
shaped like the moon 

and my body will be floating 
in an aquatic scene 
the torrent will flow in 
circle and leave 

i am still digging myself into the wheel 
and i still want you as unsure as you feel
