Listening back on the tune I got to make with my Grandma Grace, I remembered how rushed I was to finish it, as I was about to release my first EP and had a deadline to finish it. I figured since she recently passed away, I owed it to her and myself to get a better mixdown, and remaster it with the new tricks and skills I've learned. I have came a long way since that first EP three years ago, and I'm excited to show you all what I've been working on :)

Cabin Sessions Vol 1.

If you know me, you know I love Kamauu, and you know I love me some dubs. So here's my tribute to Kamauu's tune MăNDŭRĭN. After I saw Kamauu at Shambhala last year, I found a new appreciation for him as an artist and a performer. You can really feel his journey as he moves and flows on stage, and it was really inspiring. I hope you enjoy my version of this one, let me know what you think! :)

Glass Beams are my absolute fave right now, their music just tickles my soul. Here’s my tribute to my favourite song of theirs “Mirage”. I was never planning on releasing this, but people have been loving it when I play it live and asked for it, so here it is for your glistening pleasure!

Weird times call for weird tunes. When I envisioned what this track would be like, I kept thinking about how it would feel to be venturing into a deep ancient forest. With feelings of uncertainty, excitement for what lies ahead, the vastness of the trees towering over you, and the wildlife becoming aware of your presence. 
I recorded a lot of instruments in this one, from guitar, chimes, singing bowls, percussion, in an attempt to bridge the world of traditional and electronic sounds together. 
This is Ancient Forest Dub.

Weird times call for weird tunes. Gamma is the wavelength I seek in times of creation, Jamma is at his best when he is in a Gamma state of mind.

Gamma

Foreign Objects is an amalgamation of different instruments and sounds spanning from different parts of the world. I wanted to incorporate some of my field recordings with some worldly sounds. The song began with the main guitar riff and was built from there. I am very inspired by African rhythms, and you can find them floating underneath the main 4/4 kick drum pattern throughout the piece. This is the first track from my forthcoming EP, please consider donating to my bandcamp to help me out on my musical journey :)

Close Your Eyes

This is a track I did not want to write. The news of my friend taking his own life hit me hard. I immediately remembered the night at Inshala when we stayed up all night with the intention of recording the incredible chorus of birds that came with the morning light. We had the best talks about music, space, quantum mechanics, and how birds chirping may sound beautiful to us, but really they just tryin to get laid. As soon as the first birdie chirped, we both went silent and turned on our field recorders, and sat there in amazement of the beauty that was taking place. I will always cherish that morning, and I will never hear birds chirp without thinking of my homie. You can find that recording in this track dedicated to him, nestled beneath the other instruments. Dylan, you were loved, you inspired me in so many ways, and I'm so sorry that you were in so much pain that life wasn't an option anymore. We need to be there for each other, and we need to reach out and seek help if we are in pain. Was going through my record collection, and I don't know how hadn't listened to my Xavier Rudd record. so I opened it up and came across this song. I instantly heard the way that I wanted to take it with a bassline and some drums. I also got a strong african vibe from it so I added some african style vocals to go along with it. Shout out to Xavier for being such a humble and caring artist, you inspired me so much when I saw you perform and take everyone on a journey. Ancient Instincts - The Feline (Jamma Rmx)

Finally found some time to make it back out to the cabin and make numero 2 of the Cabin Sessions. This is a yoga inspired mix, also a chillin inspired mix of some of my favourite tunes. Will provide a tracklist upon request! Thank you to all of the yoga teachers that hound me for a new mix, you made it happen in three years and not five!

Cabin Sessions Vol 2

The first ingredient is love. This one came together rather quickly, had the pleasure of making this tune with my old friend Alkemi. He provided his beautiful RAV drum and his beautiful voice for this one. He's a solid dude, and we present to you "Solitude".

Solitude (ft. Alkemi)

Twisted in the fires of our hearts, a daddy emerged at the picnic, wielding a sharp blade with the words "Margaret Thatcher is tight" on it. It was engraved so skillfully, one would be inclined to believe that Margaret herself made the sword. Nobody asked who the engraver was, I wish they would have so this story could have more clarity, but that's life, you know? Anyways, this daddy emerged wielding a sword, everyone gasped, and one guy whispered "Anyone know who this daddy is?" Nobody said a word, leaving the guy to believe that nobody knew who this daddy was, who just appeared with this cool homage to Margaret Thatcher. Then, off in the distance, something in the sky was falling towards earth very, very fast. The same guy who asked who this daddy was pipes up again "What the fuck is that?" "It looks like a watermalone!" THE DADDY PIPES UP NOW AND SAYS "It is a WATER MELON, and I'm here to save this picnic." More watermelons appear in the sky, each one falling at the maxiumum rate of speed due to physics. Quite fast. They start to hit the earth with an incredible squishy explosion. People run for cover. The daddy kisses his blade and says "This one is for you Margaret Thatcher." He does a FRONTFLIP and LANDS IT FIRST TRY, and looks up. Nobody is looking up but daddy. The sound of watermelons crashing to the planet is replaced with the shrieks of daddys blade slicing through these cascading watermelons. 
Finally, the sounds of daddys blade is replaced by the sound of a babbling brook is off in the distance. It's a babbling brook of watermelon juice (98% water 2% deliciousness) People slowly rise up to see what happened. All around them, is perfectly sliced watermelon, some cubed, some still have the shell so you dont get sticky fingers. Something for everyone. But where is daddy? He's nowhere to be seen, and this is a cliffhanger isnt it? I guess you will have to wait until I finish my next song to find out what happened to this random daddy. Stay tuned
