I just decided to have a little fun with this, and I literally pulled out a half shelf of jungle records and made the mix with what I found in there ... fortunately this era is so rich with amazing music that you're guaranteed to put together a sick mix with as little planning as that. Gappa G - Exclusive Jungle Tape 2 [September 1992]

A rare evening upload from me - work is going to suck again tomorrow, and I want to get this one out there and in your king lears. Following on from volume 13 - don't question my methods - this is a slightly more obscure selection of pure '92 loveliness. Several all-time favourites from my cherished DJ Ace and Sublove tapes, and a bunch of other cool stuff, all carefully sculpted in ableton live. Watch out for the ridiculously-good 'Esoterics' from Body Snatch. Jesus that dude was so far ahead of his time. The little-known and oddly-titled 'Num Yo Ho' from Lauren Aulder also needs a mention, genius atmospherics rolling along with the 'Hip This House' break, it's only like 30 years I've been wanting to include it in a set. The reliably insane Nebula II pop up with a track dropped by Aphex Twin in Bristol recently. Final mention goes to Konspiracy (a.k.a. the legendary MC Duke) for sampling Phil Collins, typically strong move. This is the last of this AOARK mini-run, but rest assured they will be back some day. Autobiography Of A Rave Kid Part XV

Despite my love for Intelligent Drum and Bass that can be found in the majority of mixes here on my Mixcloud profile the foundation for the music I love now started back in the rave days from late days of 91 onwards with the Old Skool Hardcore that was playing back then which eventually became jungle techno in 92 and 93 and early jungle in 94.

It struck me that I haven't played a set of these sort of sounds in quite a while so here is a quick 1 hour mix of those styles.

Mixed on 2 x Vestax-PDXa1 turntables with vinyl and Traktor Scratch Control Vinyl with Traktor Audio 8 DVS plus Numark M4 mixer. Recorded via line-in. 320kbps Stereo MP3.

Mix features Old Skool Hardcore sounds from After Dark (Dave Charlesworth), Harmony and Xtreme, Manix and MC Lethal, Jungle Techno sounds from Ellis Dee & Swanee, Kid Twist & DJ Phantasy, Ron Wells (under his RonWellsJS alias) and early jungle sounds from C.Biz (Bizzy B), Cloud 9 (Nookie) and Skanna.

1994 Vol. 1

A little pre-Xmas treat: rewinding 29 years to the winter of 1994 for what will likely be the final Champion Ting mix. 

Been sat on this for a couple of months and must confess that I like it a lot; a mix of old faves and obscure stuff dug up from hazy memories, old tapes and full cycle shows. Minutiae of the construction includes the ages spent fruitlessly searching for my Sweet Love and Stamina CD singles, before realising I had ripped them to mp3 years ago, presumably before binning them (idiot). Actually listening to the Red Light record for the first time in years instead of just using the intro (the same one DJ Hype rinsed) and just loving that Tracy Chapman sample. Realising I had somehow never heard Marv Cain's mindbogglingly catchy 'Believe It', sorely (albeit understandably) overlooked in favour of The Hitman. Yeah man, there's some great stuff on here, and it finishes up the best way I could muster with Peshay's masterpiece, The Piano Tune. 

As ever, enjoy the ride; you never know, I might find one more mix in my archives to round off the year. Big ups.
