STYE443 03 The Perfect Wave

Welcome to our version  (experimental )  on Hans Zimmer’s composition of “Time” from the soundtrack “Inception”.

We wanted to do another experiment, make a piece in complete free hand (free motion) without metronome, starting to build up towards an crescendo not using the volumes (settings) which gave us the freedom to let all instruments do what we wanted them to do, and let them create this slowly building up to the crescendo, this time we allowed ourselves to use Synthesizers as well, and we will also release a massive extended version later on, trying to use as many orchestral sounds and choirs as possible.

Like all people, we hear and experience different things in music, and we just wanted to see how close our creation would come together in the pre-production, when all the tracks were completed to make both Matt’s and my instruments sound as smooth as possible, keeping  Hans’s main theme still sound recognizable for everybody, but then let the instruments do their job by layering them 1 by 1 towards the crescendo, instead of using volume settings, and still give it our own signature at the same time, as you know by now, we don’t  want to sound like copy-cats.

Most musicians and composers will say that’s impossible, as we also thought so ourselves ( especially as Matt lives in England and I in Holland, so we can’t sit next to each other ), but we did it anyway, another prove that collaborating and creating music together for almost 3 years, makes us a solid team, and we understand each other almost blindly.

This time Matt did almost all the instruments, and I am very proud of Matt what he has accomplished through the years, and honored to work together with this very talented guy.
Although this may not sound exactly like the soundtrack most of you know it, we hope you will enjoy our version too.

As said earlier, we’re planning to do an “extended version”  later this year, with brass and choirs.
