Poladroïd is a project that started in 2000. After a debut on International Deejay Gigolos, the Russian went his own way and created Roulette Rekordz @roulette-rekordz, releasing artists like Scape One , MANASYt , The WeeDJs and a bunch of various compilations... He also toured Europe and played in Praha, London, Madrid, Paris, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Bordeaux, Munich, and mostly in Belgium with artists like ADULT., Ectomorph, Anthony Rother, Dopplereffekt, Luke Eargoggle, Zerkalo and a long list of local artists...

Roulette Rekordz stopped its activities in 2007 and Poladroid took a break shortly after only to resurface in 2019, relaunching the label at the same time. In 2021 he already produced 2 EP's on his own label, but also a CD on Diffuse Reality records and a cassette release on Detriti records.

Roulette Rekordz has released on vinyl the second volume of Carjack City with Ben Milstein, Datawave, Terens K... but also digital EP's from Francois Dillinger, Datacrashrobot, Dr Floyd, Dark Prophet and RR veteran LL321.�2 more compilations are coming as well as EP's from new guests, exploring further a large spectrum of classic and, sometimes, much more unconventional electronics.

Venezuelan Electro producer ARA-U’s music career started in the late 90's as a key figure that brought rave culture to his home country through community and events. His early sets held between outdoor events and the country’s clubs, saw ARA-U riff between vinyl and synths with a hybrid set up of a RolandJX-305, turntables and FX seeing him make early moves into Acid and Breaks.

He’s now been based in the UK for over two decades, being a firm part of the rave music community. For a time it was distinctly eclectic and true to the 90's spirit of openness with label Beetroot, and released music by respected UK Techno artists Jerome Hill and House of Fix. Production for a while was under the project "The Dice", working within Electronic, Reggae and Dub.

ARA-U though, at his core is all about analogue Electro which has over the last couple of years released this passion in a series of impressive releases. His first outing was with Radioactive Man, on "Asking For Trouble", for their "PlasticAttack EP".

The quality of ARA-U’s releases haven't gone unnoticed from his peers, with support coming in from artists like Helena Hauff, DJ Bone, Mad Miran, Jerome Hill, Alienata, Solid Blake, and top Electronic music publications such as DJ Mag, Mixmag and Resident Advisor. Strong foundations for this artist, with roots going back three decades and a heart rooted in sound system-ready Electro.

1. Which artists has influenced you the most?

- I don't have an artist in particular, I like several form of music and what I try to do is to put together in some new forms. I started liking the approach of punk music but I really enjoy many others genres from hip hop / grime to ebm /industrial, and every one is a part of my personal grown. In particular i would like also to mention the  the NEW DANCE SHOW as a container of groove and inspiration for my background ( it was a 90's tv transmission with all the best electro, dance and ebm stuff). I really like the way all different genre were merged during every episod into one big killer selection

2. What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?

- I'm really scared to reveal what's is in my future, as every once I've tell my plan I loose the chance to did it. So I prefer to not talk about. I'll constantly make music, and if someone like it he can take it and release it.

3. Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?

- I like Maenad Veyl and veil label, Beau Wanzer, Filmmmaker, Amnesia scanner, Dj Overdose, UMWELT, and others that sure i'm forget to mention at the moment..

4. What inspires you now to create music?

- The shit that happens around and the silence that i like to listen sometimes

5. If it's not a secret, what set-up do you use when creating music?

- It is not a secret as i always put some live video rec on my youtube and instagram page. I really enjoy to have not a predefinite set-up, I used some gear for several years and other for some months, then change them and try different workaround really often . As a play only live rec jam, this kind of exploration makes creativity and production more funny and costantly up my interest in doing music. At the moment i use a lxr02, a pulsar 23, typhon, mfbsynth 2, tr606, liepzig analog solution and many other machine with a massive combo of distortion pedals.

Como Emilio, nuestro invitado es un reputado cañero valenciano. Vivió la Ruta desde la adolescencia, y pasó de la pista de baile a la cabina llegando a girar discos en salas tan míticas como Spook o Jungle, y residencias en salas como Miniclub o La Carbonera. 

En definitiva, Javi es un Dj veterano y de la vieja escuela que nos regala esta magnífica sesión en clave Electro, con un toque de acid y breaks, y con muchísima clase tanto en la selección musical como en las mezclas.

DECENNIUM13 - Bass Junkie (Kronos Device, Battle Trax)

For the 13th edition of our DECENNIUM series we bring you Battle Trax founder; Phil Klein aka Bass Junkie.

Forming one half of the legendary Kronos Device, along with fellow stalwart The Dexorcist, Phil has been releasing the purest forms of Electro since 1996 and has gained royal stature amongst the Electro and Machine Funk elite. 

A local legend in London, Phil founded his label Battle Trax in 1996. Around this time Phil was heavily involved in the Electro scene and was releasing under his Bass Junkie pseudonym on reputable labels such as Parallax Records and DMX Krew's Breakin' Records. Since then up until now, he has consistently released quality, hard and aggressive electronics on the likes of Touchin' Bass, Bass Agenda and Electrix.Teaming up with The Dexorcist, the pair began releasing as Kronos Device on Battle Trax in 2001.

It is an honour to have such a legend in the scene feature on our DECENNIUM series and we hope you enjoy this savage mix, featuring plenty of his own material, and recorded exclusively for Natural Selection.
