Favourite electro mixes and radio shows July 2022

Dirk Wiertz is a dj & producer from Amsterdam, combining best of both worlds working in Amsterdams finest recordstore Concerto, making music & collecting records.
After hearing Newcleus’ Computer Age as a kid in the late 80’s he was hooked on electro music at a very young age.
Starting out with a Roland MC303 making electro tracks was all he would do, but soon many more drummachines & synthesizers filled his studio.
Now more inspired by the likes of Drexciya, Anthony Rother and many others he started developing his style and started podcasting monthly mixes with his electro faves.
Lately his track “Texel” was released on LBR records in March this year, delivering a blistering electro cut, followed by his debut EP “Grounded” on Cyberdomain records, released on cassette tape, which gained the support of Dark Science Electro, Jonny Moy and Dave Clarke.

This set is part of the @beatsdonor charity campaign, in which electronic music artists encourage people to register with bone marrow donor bases to save the lives of children suffering from leukemia. #beatsdonor

Errorbeauty has been meticulously piecing together her impressive 
catalogue of releases since beginning DJing back in 2003.A professional 
flute musician by way of background, she gradually became drawn to 
electronic music’s intricately textured soundscapes - more specifically the 
broken, aggressive shades of Detroit Electro and Techno.
Her work continues to evolve and offers listeners a distinct reflection of 
Motor City’s relationship with the genre whilst demonstrating her own 
unique perspective of Electro, which brought her four times to the 
legendary club Tresor.
While living in Berlin she has performed at Berlin’s underground event 
series Skizze in OHM as well as Bold, Exquisite Berlin and Disobedient 
Circumstance at Suicide Circus Berlin to name a few and was a resident Dj 
at the well respected Suicide Circus Berlin club.
Errorbeauty has previously released music for Arkada ,Earthlings ,Crobot 
Muzik ,Combat Recordings,Section 27,Subsonic Device,The Electro 
Compendium,Zodiak Commune Records,Outlaw 303 and has contributed 
a track together with Serge Geyzel for Pyramid Transsmisions PTV15 
compilation.Another track of her own on Zwaartekracht 3.A and a track of 
her production that was released on Pyramid Transmissions label from the 
amazing compilation Interstellar Communications Vol 2.1s. 
In 2018 together with XOR12, she launched the Electro/Techno record 
label Arkada Records with already 3 vinyl releases ahead.
Coming soon is Arkada 004 featuring the sounds of ADJ and Adrien 
D’Elzius
Recently she was invited to play at the mighty Boiler Room X Faza Sofia 
that took a place in her homeland Bulgaria.

Chris Roman, aka 214, has a habit of getting lost in his studio, which happens to be tucked into the same mystical foothills as the David Lynch town of Twin Peaks, a location whose presence looms across much of Roman’s audio narrative, deftly playing foil to his creative heritage as a Miami native grounded in that area’s Electro scene. 

Since his production debut in 2002, Roman has cultivated a substantial discography of future dance floor thump and heady sci-fi vapors with releases on notable labels such as Frustrated Funk, Klakson, Central Processing Unit (CPU), Shipwrec, 20:20 Vision, and Touchin Bass. He's also appeared on three Fabric compilations, including an exclusive track commissioned for Steffi’s highly lauded Fabric 94 mix. 

Though clubs all over the world have hosted 214’s hardware-heavy live sets, he’s also known for working dance floors with dexterous precision for anyone lucky enough to catch him behind the decks.  

214’s upcoming projects include EPs for Klakson and Frustrated Funk.

Code Rising is an American Electro duo that was formed in 2010 and consists of Matt Lancaster (South Carolina) and Ryan Phillips (South Florida). Over the years, Code Rising has shared the stage and worked with some of the biggest names in the Electro music scene; performing live mainly in Miami and the surrounding Florida coasts.
After a healthy line of digital releases on Monotone Records from 2010-2013, the duo saw the release of their first full-length CD "Dissemination Protocol" on their own label, Propulsion Recordings. 2021 saw the largest release from the duo yet; "A Spectral Odyssey" was released digitally via BandCamp with a whopping 18 track playlist. Accounting for original and collaborative work, the duo have more than several 12" EP releases in their catalogue. So, what's coming up? In early 2023 a 12" wax release of "Retro Miami (Extended Cut)" and "Don't Stop The Beat feat. Gucci Bass & E.P.G." will be available via Dominance Electricity (Germany).

1. Which artists has influenced you the most?
There are too many to name because we take inspiration from many different artists.. even different genres at times. Even in terms of Electro only, it's still too many to name and we think this mix is a testament to that.

2. What new projects/releases with your participation are expected in the near future?
"Retro Miami" got an extended cut treatment and will be out on vinyl along with "Don't Stop The Beat" Feat. Gucci Bass & EPG in early 2023. This release will be distributed via Dominance Electricity. Aside from those, we have ~10 or so additional tracks in the works. Several of which can be heard in this mix. Also, be on the lookout for Mixer Fixer: Part 2, which may or may not be a wax release as it is yet TBD.

3. Which artists/labels is more relevant to you now?
Dominance Electricity has been kind enough to have us on board several times now. We give a huge "Thanks!" to Matthias Weise for that and we hope to continue releasing music with him. It's always an honor to be part of such a respectable label with a clear vision and the means to execute it. Not to mention Matthias is just a great guy to work with in general. Super nice!

4. What inspires you now to create music?
The fans.. those people who message us online or chat with us at our live shows about how much they enjoy the sounds we create.. that's a big thing that keeps us going. Though tweaking knobs, writing beats, and experimenting with odd synth sounds is something we take a pleasure in doing anyway. It's difficult for any artist to keep their same sound and style over time and at the same time not sound "formulated". So we keep challenging ourselves to do more, do better, and be different. Our efforts are a small contribution, but like many others in the community, we try to help push the next wave of Electro sounds toward the future.

On that note, most inspiring of all is the fact that there are many, many talented people around the globe producing stellar Electro; Their love and imagination for the genre being the only ceiling of their creativity and chosen style. This fact alone means Electro as a whole will always be immune from sounding over-saturated and boring.
