Following his work as a co-founder of the Korean pop-rock band Day6, Jae Park continues to build a solo career as eaJ. In this SoundCloud-exclusive commentary, eaJ breaks down the making of tracks from his new EP, titled ‘1,’ explaining how the lead single “ruin my life” was inspired by a conversation with a friend. As eaJ tells it, the friend was falling for someone “he knew would be terrible for him. But the heart wanted what the heart wanted.” Born in Argentina and raised in California, eaJ explores a full range of emotions on his latest project, from the blinding anger of “RED” (“All you can see is red, and you can’t think clearly”) to the fleeting bliss of “pause” (“Finding yourself in a beautiful moment when you wish time would stop”).
