This is an old Irish slide (12/8) that I love that I learned from a truly great fiddler, Laura Tjoelker, who plays it much more beautifully than I. But its getting there on harp as far as a presentable gem. This is so you can learn it if you want and we can play it together.  Only one time through for now - soon I hope to have it up in a three slide tune set. While flawed yet, I'm sharing anyway, it'll keep getting better as I go.

Evidently only surmised to be written by the 17th century blind master harpist Turlough O'Carolan, this nonetheless greatly is a beloved piece of music. 

Most likely written as an air, for some reason mistakenly called a jig, and more often played as a waltz, as I've done here. Playing a beautiful sounding Seydel Low F, tuned Paddy Richter, by Greg Jones of 16:23 Harmonicas:

I've been meaning to write this tune ever since the tour in Ireland I was on with Peadar MacMahon and our stay in Kilkee.  While this is just a practice take, and I literally just taught this to fiddler Kera-Lynne Newman, here it is until the next take of it. Inspired by harmonica player Brian Stear, fiddler Perrine Missemer, the PNW Scottish Band Puirt na Gael, and of course the composer Alan MacDonald, here's my initial effort to record this gorgeous tune.

I am a singer songwriter and instrumentalist based in Bellingham, Wa.  I have a deep love of many traditional musics from around the world, as well as all kinds of americana, as they say.  I specialize in coloring and soloing with other singer songwriters both live and in studio.  I love jazz, sing and play some, and really good acoustic blues, something I do as much as I can.  I play rhythm Irish Bouzouki and Mandolin, for trad music, especially Irish, some tunes, and tend to render some trad songs in my own way.  Harmonica, mandolin and bouzouki are my specialties, along with singing and some piano and guitar work.  I do love to play piano in certain kinds of folk band situations.
