Inspired by the planet Venus.

The song title comes from the very last line in Greek lyric poet Sappho's "Hymn to Aphrodite," in which the lovelorn narrator invokes and asks the goddess of love for her help in the narrator's romantic stumblings.

Here are lines 25-28 from Julia Dubnoff's translation of the hymn:

"Come to me now once again and release me
from grueling anxiety.
All that my heart longs for,
fulfill. And be yourself my ally in love’s battle."

I created this album of (mostly) electronic rock music in the month of February 2025 for the annual RPM Challenge. I realized this project using Logic Pro and some of my favorite textures (electric piano, drums, drums, drums, bass, shiny clanks, fuzzy eruptions and, yes, drums). I started off with playing 8 keyboard improvisations (with various MIDI instruments you can hear throughout the album) from which I composed and arranged these 9 tracks.
