‘Illusions (Vocal Edit)’ matches the same power and darkness of the original. The rising synths and driving pads that made ‘Illusions’ such a captivating track remain but with ‘Paul Brenning’ Bellville adds an earnest male vocal that gives real purpose to the breakdowns. Fellow label head Fennec & Wolf is on remix duty and presents a vocal-led interpretation that’s ripe for the dancefloor. A further remix comes from Belgian artist DkA, whose down tempo filtering of the original is a brooding and murky antidote to the rapture of the original.

"Nowhere Else" is the debut single from Madou, the recently upstarted project from Belgian production duo, Jochen Sablon and Vincent De Boeck. And while Sablon and De Boeck have worked together for years in the past, the Madou project sees the guys reverting to the open-minded approach to art that they possessed as teenagers, or as they put it, "No genres, no expectations, no strings attached."

In their inaugural release out today on NEST, Madou translate their inspirations from both the Belgian art scene as well as folks like Four Tet, Jamie xx, and Pional in a convergence of indie electronic, house, and R&B. "Nowhere Else" leans on a yearning top line, bolstered by flickering chimes and muffled bassline work. This attractive, equatorial disposition of "Nowhere Else" has already caught the attention of The Magician, who led off the 68th installment of his famed Magic Tape series with the record.

Nils Hoffmann is back on Poesie with another remix EP, Drift, with two originals alongside remixes by Ben Böhmer, Fanz Alice Stern and Kalipo.

First we have the title track, a groovy late night swing dripping with a juicy electric energy and a firm beat. Gritty swells burn through the mix as the bassline chugs and percussions boom out over a warm soundscape. 
Ben Böhmer’s remix lays the track out with a lighter and more playful mood, giving the track a chilly swing while still maintaining its warmth and presence. 

Franz Alice Stern takes the reigns of ‘Drift’, giving it a brooding, low down swing and with plenty of deep seeded grit. The track hits hard and hits heavy while its down-tempo groove balances the energy beautifully.  

‘Feathers’ enters the scene now, and with it a collection of rhythmic synth hits crowds the focus, giving it a wonderfully hectic and energetic tone while the percussions drive the beat home and give it power on the floor. 
Showing his production prowess, the German producer Kalipo takes ‘Feathers’ for a ride, giving the track massive pressure and movement while still maintaining what could be described as a delicate groove and relatively light atmosphere. It’s not until the jagged bassline rips when the track starts to show its more sinister side.

Just Be has been riding a wave of success in the past year and further cements this new incarnation with next installment for the mighty Crosstown Rebels. The massive ‘Don’t Make Me Wait For You’, featuring Jesse Monroe is a wonky slice of pent up tension and swelling moods, reminiscent of proto garage house classics with a touch of modern slinkiness. With an album forthcomngg on Crosstown and huge releases on labels such as Visionquest, Spectral Sound and his own One Records. His hectic touring schedule is testament to the steep rise of this underground star and seminal gigs are lined up this year at the likes of Panorama Bar and DC10.
