Billie had sent me the amazing instrumentals with some other strange instrumentals and they all sounded weird to me and I thought this particular one was way too hardcore for me especially since I like to think that I am gentle. So I ignored the beat until I had a firsthand experience with the greed in a new business venture I had started in Lagos and believe me, it hit me hard. It did not just affect my emotions but my life. I had to start all over again.

A few days after that, I listened to the beat again, and Boom : Long Throat dey do them jumped in and the rest is history.

I love this song. It’s engaging, conscious and it carries a heavy message.

Track 1. Long Throat

On this track, I had to dig into my igbo roots. I am from Ogwashi Uku, Delta State which is an igbo speaking part of Delta. Unfortunately, I don't know how to speak igbo fluently but I understood the language and even if I had to speak, I would have to take my time to think about the words to use to form a sentence. The latter part was how I wrote the igbo part of this.

When Auggie sent this to me, he said he wanted to challenge me. I don’t know why producers like to say that. I had never done anything like that before but the beat was way to mahd I just had to jump on it.

For the party is what I like to call a “Unique Jam”. You have never heard anything like it, and hopefully, you never will and I think it’s one that a lot of people will appreciate regardless of your culture.

Brand New is the only track that reveals the person, Jane Chuks. You see, I have been around a lot and I don’t mean that in the way that term is usually used. I have lived in many cities in Nigeria. Lagos, Port-Harcourt, Benin, Onitsha , Abuja and I also schooled at Yola, Adamawa State. Due to these frequent moves, I am privileged to know a whole lot of people. People that have literally watched me grow.

Funny thing though is that out of 100% of them, about 70% may have seen me dance at some point or heard that I could, 10% have seen me sing at some point but are not sure if I can because I only really sang when I was young in the choir, high school accapella group and when I would give rare “special numbers” at whatever church we happened to be transferred to, oh and in the shower. The remaining percentage don’t know a thing.

This song expresses that I am far from the person I used to be. Far from the person that they used to know and this project is evidence of it.

I thought that was too long a title so New Whip was a better option.
New whip is a love song about a girl pouring out her feelings to a guy that does not know she is in love with him. The words on this song are from the heart. I wrote it on a beautiful evening on one of my off days where I happened to be alone. My little sister had visited home and it was about 3am. I happened to be thinking about a certain someone then and I decided to listen to the instrumentals by Auggie Mayne. The words just jumped out of my head like a flowing river.

This is not just any love song. This came from a real place. And no I never got the courage to express how I really felt in reality until the feelings passed. I guess this song will always be a reminder to me in particular that I was once catching feelings for someone but never followed up.

I am certain you will fall in love with this song.

In the days when I lived in Abuja, I came across a lot of men who would flaunt their wealth just so they could get laid. Unfortunately or maybe fortunately for me, I was not a sharp girl and I would always use work as an excuse since I worked a lot of late nights and had just one day off that I would usually spend on my own.

The instrumental on this was a free beat I found online produced by DeeCee, When I listened to the beat, The hook jumped into my head and I wrote the song imagining what my response would have been to all those guys, if only I was a sharp girl.

Maga is very detailed, very descriptive and the melody is very captivating. This might be your favourite.

Have you ever heard of the phrase “Twin Flame”. Google it if you have not. I have been researching on that topic for over a year now. I’m not sure why but I do believe in it.

One of the phases of a twin flame relationship is the Runner- Chaser stage. It is believed that the woman usually becomes the chaser because she can feel the connection and knows it’s real and the man becomes the runner because he is afraid of this connection and does not know how to process it. This was where the plot of the song was derived from.

When I was coming up with the melody, I decided to write this like I writing to the Runner and it came out great. This is my favorite song in this project. It has an amazing vibe to it. Very chill song and well it’s a love song too.
