Instrumental tracks to an upcoming post covering yet another Steely Dan classic—written by Walter Becker, Donald Fagen—heard here in its pre-mixdown stage and minus a couple or more tracks where I plan to feature some people I have not asked (yet). And no; this is not dedicated to Owsley Stanley (heh) but it is a 'hommage' to the great Chuck Rainey, bassist extraordinaire.

This track actually has been a few years in the making. I had started it some three or so years back, then shelved it for various reasons, laziness being one of them. It involved a lot of work!

But I finally got back to it. So, here is my foray into big band arrangement.  I present "MJC & the Juno-DS Orchestra." 

A jazz standard composed by Jimmy Van Heusen in 1939 with lyrics by Johnny Mercer, its main influence here is directly attributable to an excellent Tom Scott arrangement recorded and released back in 1993 by the amazing vocalist and pianist Diane "Deedles" Shuur. That recording, from the release "Love Songs," has intrigued me since first hearing it.
