Janet's new three-song EP on Loantaka Records, “I Only See You,” reflects her musical diversity and inspirations. "I Can't Believe You Did That" is an airy lament that melds vintage pop sophistication with the Hawaiian lilt of her ukulele. The stark title track displays her affection for "minimalistic styles where you can make the most out of a little." "When I Hear (Beautiful Music)" is reflects the influence of her creative hero, Brian Wilson – "He's the gold standard for me in terms of songwriting and production," says LaBelle – while her affection for modern French chanson informs her vocal delivery on the lovely number. 

"Blessed with memorable songs and charisma to spare, the sky's the limit for Janet LaBelle," predicts Music Connection. As she concludes, "I love timeless themes and catchy melodies. I've always had a strong emotional response to music, so I try to let that inform what I write. I really try to connect to my music. And I like to write music that I'd want to listen to."

Brooklyn-based songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Janet LaBelle, channels her love for varied musical traditions and a passion for classic and timeless sounds on her latest single release, “You’re Gone.” LaBelle is a staple of the New York City scene, as a front woman, a touring multi-instrumentalist (most notably performing with Jimmy Destri of Blondie), and most importantly, a forward-thinking producer, rapidly turning song sketches into fleshed out nuanced works.
