When I joined SoundCloud back in September of 2016, the first thing I took full advantage of was exploring the real artists on this site and organizing playlists of my very favorite songs. I had a great time browsing pages, reading bios, exploring songs and commenting on my favorites… and I’ve met some great people and made a few friends along the way. This page is all about them; the wonderful musicians you might not otherwise discover.

A while back I viewed s/c as merely a hosting platform for posting on forums,but then I realised there was access to so many wonderful compositions by other folk,it then became my prime source of listening to music.
This little corner of the internet is actually a thriving musical community where nobodies such as myself can share songs with the great and the good.
All that just has to be positive and welcome.

Songs are a mix of solo work with all instruments played by myself,plus my own world weary vocals! I tend to favour my home made Telecasters and a Strat,though the odd acoustic makes an appearance. I use Logic Pro X and am a recent convert to DAW.

I play and write for the joy of expression and always with the hope my songs may be a positive force to anyone who takes time to listen. I'm an old boy now,so I harbour no dreams of success in the conventional sense,having the odd comment is just fine for me. Thanks to all who bother.

 Also earlier songs from a project in 2015, with Fiona and Martin Magill,Vocals and keys. Martin is a very talented working keyboard player,but sadly Fiona no longer sings. Our loss.
Lastly there are tracks from late 80s/early 90s from SOS,a band I was in back then.

My focus is on songs, on composition, not on style or genre. The songs  usually have lots of space for improvisation. 

I use a simple little application called "Guitar Pro", not really fit for producing, but a dream come true for rough little sketches like these...

I am a career musician.  My primary instrument is guitar.  Hired as session guitarist and artist, I have recorded for Sire, Arista, Capitol, Atlantic, Visions and Mentor record labels, lending my guitar talents to producers/artists Albhy Galuten, Dion Dimucci, Peter Solley, Steve Gursky, Steve Alaimo, Melanie Safka, Genya Ravan, Frank Cesarano, George Terry, Paul Harris, Charles Dye, David Wayne Hardy, Gary King, Joe Viglione, Frank Falestra and Helen Banks.  
Being no stranger to the stage, I have opened up in concert for JJ Cale, Jay Leno, The Band, The O'jays, Steven Stills, Judy Collins, NRBQ, John Sebastian, The Outlaws, Melissa Manchester, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Marshall Tucker Band, The Beach Boys, Robin Trower, Alvin Lee, The Outfield, Air Supply, Ursa Major, Cactus and Wild Cherry.  All concert performances were promoted by Jack Boyle's Cellar Door Concerts and the late John Stoll's Fantazma Productions, both operating out of sunny south Florida.   I have written over 200 songs and am currently on record with Dion Dimucci and Charlie McCoy (a sought-after Nashville session player).  Those recordings can be found on Pennybank Tunes' release "Road Movies Vol. 2."  I am also on record with the late Randy California of Spirit, we were label mates on Mentor Records' release "U.S. Rock 'n Roll Anthology Vol. 1."   I am published by music industry giant IMAGEM and continue to write, record and play live shows.  I welcome inquiries from those involved in the music business.  Currently I enjoy playing at local popular restaurants and beach bars where I meet people from all over. Mostly, as a self-taught guitar player (maybe not... considering all the influences and internet/book resources I've come across lately!)  and rather than trying to be anything remotely near a good player of any great technique, I'm not bound by genre or clichés; I just like to go for it. It's a whole lot better that way. 
Blues is a human expression of emotion. That may explain why I felt called to blues music, even though, I grew up in Europe, a continent apart from the music’s heartlands in America’s Deep South. And that may also be the reason for the great Portuguese Bluesmen we have nowadays (The Legendary Tigerman/Frankie Chavez/Budda Power Blues/Rui Veloso/Dead Combo/The Black Mamba/Mazgani and many others...)

I’m a fan of raw guitar players who aren’t really polished… you’re not sure if it’s all going to fall apart.  Those who, rather than trotting out a collection of preconceived practised licks and lines, take some chances along the way, creating ideas on the spot. IMHO they sound more exciting and impressive for it. I play whatever comes into my head. It's an adventure because when I do a breakdown or a solo, it's new each time and I just let it go... The majority are first take. I just turn it on and press record...they are mostly one moment in time. I’m always looking for something. Sometimes I’m not quite sure what, but you just have to keep looking...
The real beauty is playing without thinking and once you have some concepts down, what comes out, is from the heart.  It's second nature. 
I just enjoy listening and playing some music, in honour of that timeless way of killing time (just for the fun of it...and whenever inspired: "If you're not feeling it, don't play it!"). I'm happiest picking out a blues tune to a suitable backing track. After all, simple music is the hardest to play...
For me, half the battle is to get the right sound. And that, in turn, inspires how you play.
As a tone fiend, I like to let those bluesy guitar tones breathe a little bit. But, almost everything I play, it never, ever comes out quite the way I heard it in my head. Sometimes I end up with something that's kind of close, but it's not quite what intended originally. These uploaded tracks are no exception... They are far from being perfect. First of all, I'm not a fan of perfection when it comes to music...it may even compromise the tone, but if the tone is there, great! It sounds like a human being playing guitar. 
As Dan Patlansky once said "I would rather hear an average player with a great guitar tone than a great player with a bad tone".
 I love stuff that sounds like a spontaneous real-life experience. Playing music is a human activity, and we humans are far from perfect! There is a certain charm in something that feels human with the flow of a spontaneous performance. It's that spontaneity that makes for the magic...
