I suddenly started to think if that one sound could be made from that one generic Airhorn sample and seems like i hit right in the point for once... :D I'm amazed at how it took this long from me to realise this. XD

So, 1) pick the airhorn sample, 2) lower down its volume, 3)play with the sample's volume 4) also maybe play with the volume envelope to get it sound even more similar, 5) voila. :P

Modified Airhorn Club Sample - Close Enough (Remember Dada Life - Kick Out The Epic Motherf*cker?)

This is perfectly normal progress in ever music maker's hobby or career, right? Every one of us accidentally makes a farting kick at some point, right? D:

Noisepuhe means Noispeech, even though noise isn't a Finnish word.

So, today i learned how to use a Vocoder effect. I loaded up a recording of my 9th grader's speech i had had some years ago, then loaded a noise sample i had taken from some raw data at some point, used the "Vocoder for LMMS" effect while the speech recording was hard-panned to left and the noise sample was hard-panned to right, and this is what i got. I recorded these results using the Voxengo Recorder VST, as usual. :)

Being able to replace my own voice with a noise sample is a really cool idea and i'm happy that this was possible to do! :DDD

Also, thanks to my friend @Melodicore for helping me understand how to modulate sound with another sound by using a vocoder; it's really great to have friends like you! ;u;

Noisepuhe

So, as somebody may have seen/heard, i accidentally turned a gabber kick made in LMMS's Kicker into some bubbly sound of weirdness.

I wanted to upload something about it here too so here it is. A two-minute-short automated recording where the sound fades in using a high-pass filter and then fades out using a low-pass filter. Both filters' use is automated. Seems like the high-pass filter part behaved in an odd way for some reason so i guess to hear the first part well you should listen to it with headphones, and preferably in a very quite place to hear the small sounds slowly fading in. :)

I hope you will enjoy these bubbly sounds which were created using Kicker, some reverb effect and a weird sweep effect of which i'm not sure how it should work really or what it is meant for( X) )! ^^

Gabbubbles Bubbling By Past You

I'm finally working on my part for the noise split, again. I think this time i will get it made as i have already made some progress with it and have got a plan.

This recording i wanted to make after a little experimentation related to my work with my track for the split. Nothing of the track can be heard here, except the reverb which i'm using in the track in the part which i'm working on. It's my own preset for Mo Verb.

I was experimenting with white noise generated using LMMS' TripleOscillator(the white noise stuff can't be heard in this recording either) and some waveform samples that come with LMMS(these, this part of the experiments can be heard REALLY well in this recording! XDDD) and soon i found myself listening to something interesting and awesome. There is probably clipping at some points but that's just a minor side thing, and in my case, not even an issue. After all, i'm mostly an experimentalist and a noise musician... ;)

Okay, so, on this week's Tuesday i finally got myself to go to my upper secondary school's Finnish class, which we also use as the the classroom for Music lessons, to test the school's drumset and see if i can play with them.

I wouldn't say that i'm so good in playing drums but i think i found some kind of flow eventually and even if the beats were still far from being something regular and repeating, the beat became something quite consistent and smooth, at least mostly. :3

In this audio file i have crossfaded together three versions of me playing with drums. It starts with the lo-fi version recorded with my old, but still perfectly working, Nokia 3720c. Those AMR files are of a surprisingly high quality, despite the fact that they are low bitrate! :o

When the drumming starts, the first crossfading starts also. You will hear the sound slowly morphing into the next version, which is a higher-quality recording made with my 4th Gen. iPod Touch. Both of these recordings are mono, of course, as those devices each have only got one microphone and no capability to record in stereo.

Then you will be able to hear the sound getting wider because the iPT version starts to crossfade with the stereo recording which i made with my Samsung Galaxy S5! :D I think this part sounds particularly interesting, just as the next part where the stereo record crossfades back to that lo-fi Nokia recording. ^^

I chose to not touch the last hit of that ride cymbal so you will hear all three versions of that hit together. ;) I even lined all three recordings to play that part at the same time in Audacity. X)

The file ends with the higher-quality recordings fading out, because i cut them off of their original audio files(they are both over one hour long but i only made three files of few minutes of length with my Nokia because its SD memory card was starting to run out of memory and i had to make just small recordings. Later i had noticed that some music files had been left on the card and i deleted them and freed ~100MB of memory up. By the way, one hour of recorded audio in the AMR format recorded with my Nokia 3720c takes a maximum of 5.5MB of space! :D I love making recordings with it and listening to them at later points! Those lo-fi recordings are so interesting to listen to <3 ), leaving only the rest of the lo-fi recording to play to the end. :)

This was a fun thing to do and i also got lots of one-hit samples recorded with all of those three devices and it's only a matter of time when i will separate those samples from each other and use them or process them. ;) That will be really exciting, i'm sure of it! :D

Maybe later i could also use this live improvised drumming as part of some song? Or maybe even release it as an individual song! But i'm not going to allow downloads for now.  :3

Oh, and "Kolme Yhdessä" is of course Finnish and means "Three In One" or "Three Together". Finnish is a perfect language for playing with words. :D I originally wrote that it would translate as "Three As One" but that would actually be "Kolme Yhtenä". Hehehe... ;3

Kolme Yhdessä (Crossfaded)

Yeah, so it tried to make some music at Desucon during the night between Friday and Saturday. First i wanted to try to make some Hardcore/Gabber. I think it went somewhat well, EXCEPT that MAYBE i made the kick A BIT TOO LOUD... whoops. XD I love the Kicker kick/drum synth in LMMS as nowadays it's really good and i can make awesome Gabber kicks using it. But i still need more practise lol

Next i tried to make a Tripleoscillator preset that i could use to make some kind of melody. I don't imply that that melody is even near to what you would hear in HC songs and i'm not going to bother even imply that it even sounds like a sound that people would make for their HC sounds. I tried to make a screaming sound and i made... well, at least it's noisy and i can use it for making noisecore, though...

Oh, and i made some hi-hat stuff too, there. There's not much to say about them though. They are just loud and that's it really.

Then i kind of got bored and decided that i want to try to make some Psytraaaaannncccceeee..... ^___^ Because i really love psychedelic trance. Especially Full-On and Psycore. And every other kind of Psytrance, sigh... XD

I used a tripleoscillator preset i had made a long time ago, trying to follow a tutorial video explaining how to make a psytrance bass with tripleoscillator, only that it was meant for tripleoscillator for FL Studio, not for tripleoscillator of LMMS......... well, it still worked out well enough. I got something done back then and it sounds good enough. Only that it makes clicking sounds with that common psytrance rhythm. That's annoying. Well, i worked on it some more this time and played with LMMS's volume controlling stuff(you know, attacks and decays and holds an releases and all that stuff controlling your synth's or sample's volume, cutoff or resonance envelopes[do i even know what i'm talking about here?]) and... i finally got it working. No clicking and it really sounds good and ready to be used for psytrance. ^^ So i also saved the preset with a new name so that i won't lose my changes. :333

Then it was time to start creating something new. I have always wanted to be able to make those psytrance growls. You know, the ones that sound like(inb4 something that represents how the sound is pronounced in FINNISH, not in English... i'm not sure how you other people would describe it.) NAUUUUUHHHHH- or something like that. I don't know. But anyways, i played with Synth1, one of my favourite VST synth and i finally got it made! Now i can finally make proper Psytrance growls <333333333 A-AN-AND J-JUST LISTEN TO THAT GLORIOUS GROWL!!! I think it's just peerrrrrfffeeeeeccccttttttttt...... *dies happily* Ah, i just felt in love with it. My only problem is that because it uses Synth1's internal phaser effect, that effect is constantly changing and i need to find out a way to control it... or well not it but a similar phaser or other effect so that i can make that growl sound the same every time and not have to worry about what kind of growl it will be. As you listen to the psytrance part you will hear the growl changes and sometimes it sounds bigger and sometimes smaller. I'll try to come up with a solution at some point. But now i'm going to enjoy it as i'm so excited about this achievement.

Also, yeah, i put way too much reverb on the psytrance part and i kind of don't like that continuous sound the reverb effect generates to that track. Sorry. ;_; I'll just need to learn to use Reverb better. Also, i should try to learn to use Compressor effects better. And Sidechaining(that method which people use to make "pumping" basslines and "ducking" sounds that sort of go quieter when a kick comes so that they fit together and their mix won't become too loud. Or maybe as a noise musician i should learn sidechaining so that i can make kicks make everything else louder so that everything can be WAY TOO LOUD. Hmm... that might be a good idea... Lol I'm very serious when writing these descriptions. XDDD).

I actually finished this track much earlier than when i'm publishing it because it took me a long time to finish making the cover art. I managed to graduate from my upper secondary school(Yay! :D) before i got the cover art finished. Graduation also meant that i had to return the school laptop, which i had been using all those four years i was in that school, back to them. That left me with my phone and my old laptop, and that laptop didn't have GIMP and many other important programs that i need for my music making or other artistic stuff, due to lack of free space in its HDD and memory problems which make it harder to get anything new installed.

I eventually found out about PortableApps.com which offer portable versions of Open-Source and Freeware programs, and they happened to have, for example, LMMS, Audacity, GIMP, Inkscape, LibreOffice... well, everything that i needed to be able to finish making the cover art - and more! It still took a lot of time to actually get the cover art finished because i still had some problems due to the ideas i had had for it(getting that "JST logo" digitized was my main problem, but i eventually got it traced from a photo in Inkscape[but i didn't do that on my laptop, as Inkscape doesn't want to work on it for some reason... instead i... took advantage of a lucky chance to use another laptop to do the thing :P]).

But now everything is done. And how did i make this track? The challenge was to take one sample from TB's "Glitch Bits FREE" sample pack(which is actually a free sample of their paid Glitch Bits sample pack, by the way XD Sample pack, which is a sample of a sample pack. How ironic. :D) and make a track using just that one sample. To me that is a very interesting idea and i have wanted to try something like that for a long time, using just one sample to make a whole new track. Well, the samples turned out to be sample loops... Means my version/idea of a "one sample challenge" still remains to be done heh...

I made this track by using some page on the Internet(i can't remember its name anymore) that let me input a list of options(in this case, the names of the sample files) and then would select one of them. Of course i wouldn't make that choice by myself; everything is infinitely more fun if it's randomized, if you ask from me! ;) When the choice had been done, i imported the chosen file into LMMS. I ended up taking the approach of slicing the loop file in "shortcircuit", one of my favourite sampler VSTs, and then recording myself playing with those samples with my MIDI keyboard. So as i was just pressing random keys for some time, there was even more randomness haha. Typical me. :P

Also, i should mention that due to Soundcloud's time-limit for free accounts' uploads, i can only get maybe just one more song uploaded, and even that has to be really short. Before i uploaded this track, Soundcloud said i only had 3 minutes left... I think i will start uploading my new tracks to https://hearthis.at/janmeeba after i have reached the point where i won't be able to upload more without my older tracks getting hided by Soundcloud due to not having a paid account. I won't create a new/"alternative" account for Janmeeba and i also don't want to delete any tracks(well, maybe those Photosynesthesia cover tracks[i might finish that cover someday though, maybe...] and a few short things that i have uploaded here as private things) because, well, they are part of my history and so they are important for me to keep there! I want to be open about my past and that means i will keep my possibly stupid things available, too. :P Well, at least if they aren't WAY TOO stupid. Hehehe... I have got a couple of aliases planned so i will create accounts for them, eventually, but i'm not going to say anything more about those aliases now since they are secret projects. ;P
