Dbrief's reputation for releasing only the most vibe-y Drum and Bass carries over into 2020, with an amazing two-track EP, 'Fire In Me / Way Back When'. Both tracks offer not only a positive feel, but a flashback to an older time of DnB - Dbrief's ode to a more classic sound.

'Fire In Me' begins our journey with its striking melancholy-piano chords and rolling percussion, which Dbrief is so recognised for.

Driving us home we have 'Way Back When', one of our personal favourites from the long-time Riddim family member. The track offers an almost 'pulsating' feel to it, and is sure to get the feet moving.

Polish producer Satl steps out of his comfort zone and explores his Dub Techno infuences on his new Lucid Dreams EP: his sophomore release on Amsterdam boutique label The North Quarter.

Consisting of six brooding, but elegant tracks, “Lucid Dreams” is the work of an artist taking creative risks in order to grow and fnd his voice. Having made the move from Rotterdam to Gdańsk at the start of the year, Satl spent his lockdown delving into his love for Techno; looking to translate it into his Drum & Bass productions - with exceptional results.

"This EP to me is an exploration of a sound that I've loved for some time, but never really felt confdent enough to attempt. A more raw, techno-inspired, but still elegant and classy form of Drum and Bass," he explains. "I always strive to push myself forward, and I feel really good about this project. It's a step outside of my comfort zone. A project that I'm really proud of."

Skankandbass is dedicated towards the official promotion of record labels and artists in the world of drum & bass music. Since inception in 2009, Skankandbass has unearthed some of the freshest talents in the scene and has opened many doors for unsigned artists. Now, through Skankandbass Introducing we release a series of free download singles which aims to spread the work of the best unsigned, newcomer artists who deserve more recognition.

Bristol based up-and-comer Creatures has had a breakout 2020.  Over the last 11 months he’s had accomplished releases on Flexout, ProgRam, Dispatch, Context & Rebel Music, and now we welcome his take on heavyweight, minimal drum & bass to Skankandbass Introducing.  With ‘Dragon’s Lair / Keep Me Close’ he demonstrates why his production has caught the ear of so many tastemakers, collaborating with London based talent OB1 on the A-Side.

At Detached, we've always tried to push new and fresh talent forward and for the third part of our 5 year celebrations, this ethos remains unchanged. We welcome back Echo Motion, Flicka, Karma Kingdom and Toss-T to the label while giving a warm welcome to Rozfresh and R4NS0M. This 6 track EP shows off the breadth and depth of the label over the years while also looking firmly towards the future.

Up first is man of the hour, Echo Motion. This talented artist has been on fire in the last few months, with stunning liquid on labels such as Celsius Recordings, Glitch Audio and Riddim Records. We are proud to be the home for one more arrow in his bow, in the form of 'Buried Treasure'. A classic liquid roller as he does best, with a warm bassline carrying a haunting vocal, this is sure to be on repeat through the following cold nights.

Next up is Flicka, who we welcomed to the label last year in the form of his free download, 'Muted'. 'Gator Skin' follows on from where Flicka left off. An eerie, Western-influenced guitar hook takes the lead while a sensual saxophone and smooth piano chords foreshadow a gritty roller with the perfect balance of weight and soul.

Rozfresh makes his debut to Detached with 'What', a tech-influenced stepper filled with his signature sound that's made us keep an eye on him. Watch out for the breakdown which provides a moment of unexpected calm before we're led back in this steam train of a track!

We proudly welcome back Italy-based Karma Kingdom for his first solo outing on the label. 'Cry Me A River' is a dramatic, jungle-influenced piece which carries the unusual sound palette that we've come to love from this artist throughout his career. This piece harkens back to the label's past whilst staying fresh and novel.

Our penultimate track is from Toss-T, who we welcomed to the label earlier this year with his beautiful free download, 'Melancholy'. 'Chronessence' showcases a new, darker side to Toss-T's sound, where he employs South Asian Carnatic instrumentation for a deep roller. The unconventional melodies make this a treat for those who enjoy fusions of incredibly different styles.

Finally, we welcome R4NS0M to the label for the closing, sombre notes of this various artist release. 'Scene: Anamnesis' envelopes us in from the first sound, with fiery crackles and airy atmospherics paving the way to a dark, old-school roller with a modern aesthetic and rugged basslines.

With our final release of the year, we'd like to wish everyone who's stayed with us for the last 5 years a very happy holiday season, and we hope you've enjoyed all we've had to offer! We've had a wealth of different styles on the label in the last 12 months, and this EP only adds more to the diversity which we are proud of upkeeping.

Flowrian, who hails from Switzerland, has made a name for himself with previous releases on Soul Deep, Jazzsticks, Good Looking, Flight Pattern, Fokuz and Celsius.  He returns to Soul Deep, with a solid 2 track release, that shows off his progression as a producer.  Flowrian takes his engineering to another level for his release on Soul Deep, blending sounds together to create a perfectly crafted and musical soundscape.  The title track, “Granite & Dandelions,” leads things off with it’s meticulously edited breaks, knocking percussion, squelching mid baselines, and haunting vocal samples.  The second track, “Edward the Hamster,” Is up next and features snappy drums, a laid back sub bassline, and sharp mid bass embellishments that add layers and textures to the song.  The elements create the perfect backdrop for the deep pads, and beautiful melodies that help accentuate the overall vibe of the tune.  The Granite & Dandelions EP is another wicked release for Flowrian!

Back on Goldfat for the third time; pyxis returns home and she’s bought some very talented friends to cook up some more of her intergalactic soul music.

‘Clxuds’ is a dreamy entrée, full of pyxis trademark guitars and melodies. We’re floating and we’ve barely even begun!
‘Passing’ featuring Maverick Soul sets the tone with spacious, ethereal vibes. We have lift off! I’ve heard it said the Earth looks very peaceful from outer space.

‘Planets’ featuring our #fatfam friend Easy continues the journey; opening with emotive piano chords that suggest something greater and bigger than ourselves. This is astral traveling in song and the galaxy sounds truly awesome. This track also features some lovely spoken word poetry in the breakdown from the amazing Sofi Mari.
‘Ribbons’ features another of the #fatfam gang, Auris. If on our astral journey we discover a future utopia this is what will be playing as we arrive. Dazzling!

‘Stardust’ features none other than our very own Mitekiss. These two have seemingly torn up the script of what you may expect from them and instead decided to charter their own course home.  Rugged breaks and tear out basslines take us to warp speed for the final leg. What a trip!
