Welcome back to another Transmission broadcasting from the HER 他 Transmission Mix Series, a weekly mix series showcasing incredible artists from around the world. For the 64th edition, we bring you a mix from naarm based DJ, Endorfin.

Endorfin is an emerging DJ in the naarm electronic music community, who has in a short amount of time in a very short period of time been able to make themselves known due to their immense passion in hunting out the euphoria within music from the techno, DnB, breakbeat and ambient sub-genres of electronic dance music.

A joyful spirit, with a passion and enthusiasm that has spread across dancefloors at naarm venues like Colour, Thank You 2, Loop Bar and Ferdydurke. Keep an eye out for Endorfin in the months to come.

Another Barker masterclass.

Sam Barker asks more from techno. The artist known simply as Barker is one of electronic music's most consistently conscientious and curious producers, challenging listeners to question the norms we accept about our shared culture—whether it's the music that fills the room, the process behind it, or the purpose of the space itself.

British-born yet based in Berlin since 2007, Barker forged a connection to many of the city's leading institutions, including Ostgut Ton, and over the course of a long and fruitful relationship, he carved out one of the more singular paths on the club and label's roster.

Not one for orthodoxy, Barker challenged four-to-the-floor techno framework in favor of melodic experimentation. By decentering or completely stripping away the typical trappings of kick drums and claps, his productions are both light and immersive, buoyant in low-end presence and shimmering in weightless space.

Six years after Utility, his sophomore album Stochastic Drift arrives this month. Shaped by pandemic-driven reinvention, it burrows deeper into harmonic twists and freeform drift. "At some point I became conscious of the process," he wrote of his latest album. "The only thing you can do is embrace the uncertainty and see every change as a potential positive.”

Consider his RA Podcast another sequel. Like his much-beloved 2019 mix for FACT, it's a collage of live recordings and a fitting expression of the artist's own internal spring. RA.982 radiates wide-eyed optimism: percussion cloaked in foggy, swirling pads and trance-like chords, neatly synched in synthetic glimmers. 

All in all, it's an hour of music crafted for contemplation, collective euphoria, or heads-down epiphany—or for that matter, any moment, really, its emotive depth seemingly endless.

“The hardware world is like a sport.” The DJ and producer talks about mastering synthesis and finding community in a male-dominated music ecosystem.

Is talent innate? Today's guest, producer and modular synth extraordinaire Sibel Koçer (AKA JakoJako) doesn't think so. She's seen an extraordinary rise in her career in the last few years, earning a residency at Berghain, releasing on Mute Records, playing live shows at festivals around the world and becoming an in-demand remixer and collaborator for artists from the worlds of classical music, techno and pop. But she doesn't think she got where she is because of some God-given gift; instead, she says, her success is the result of tireless hard work.

Many years ago, when Koçer moved to Berlin to finish nursing school, she spent slow periods in her job poring over modular synth manuals. She eventually abandoned nursing and instead chose to pursue an internship at the popular Berlin synth shop SchneidersLaden, where she started learning the ins and outs of building her own system and making her first connections in the modular synth world. In this Exchange, she talks about the specific dynamics of the producer community that loves and uses hardware—which she describes as competitive and "sports-like"—as well as being a woman in this environment, finding creative inspiration from synth manuals and channeling her energy into mastering synthesis when she felt she had no other choice.

Koçer is curating a compilation called Hardwired for the label Air Texture, which will be out on July 11th. It showcases music from the community of hardware enthusiasts and people who have an appreciation for machine-based music, including Rødhåd, The Field, Acid Pauli and more.
