@dj-listener is now an established name in the House & Garage circuit. His energetic style of mixing and unrivalled work ethic has seen him rise up to become a firm fixture in the scene's elite. He is someone who has always been inspired to reach the limits of technical artistry within the DJ profession.   He is resident at one of Garages' most prestigious events "Backto95" a position he has held or the last 10 years and has been a regular performer at all of the classic Garage events.

However he is not just an Oldskool DJ and has always been driven to push new music and artists. He has also been in the studio with planned releases scheduled for 2022. Listener also has a great understanding of the music industry with extensive experience promoting his own events Listeners Choice, and formerly Juxx. These parties which ran at venues such as Plan B, The Nest & Basing House all of which were based around promoting new music.

Throughout his career Listener has played all over London, the UK, and abroad in top venues including:
Fabric, Studio 338, Ministry of Sound, Motion Bristol, The Steelyard, E1 Club Space, 02 Academy Bournemouth, Lab 11 Birmingham, as well as Ibiza, Amsterdam, Croatia, Dubai, Barcelona + +
He has also won multiple DJ Competitions.

This mix was put together to showcase some of my absolute favourite House & Garage tracks from the early 90's. Predominantly made up of US productions.

Garage House Classics 2 - Frankie Magic

Frankie Magic has been spinning UK Garage and House for over a decade. It all began when he was 10, starting off with a pair of belt drive decks  and a small stack of funky house records. From those early days, Frankie has developed a passion for music that has grown and evolved with him throughout the years.

He first discovered UKG & Garage house through the likes of DJ EZ and his Pure Garage CD series, as well as through forums and communities online such as Uptown and 2SG. He was immediately drawn to this genre and started incorporating it into his own sets, frequently buying records online through Discogs, eBay, or just digging through record shops for hours on end.

Frankie Magic has played on some of the most respected radio stations in the UK, including Desire, Divine Radio, d3ep, and Deja Vu. He has also performed at various venues and events, and has gained a reputation for playing lesser-known tracks which went under the radar all those years ago.

Fast forward to the present day and Frankie still continues to dig out and play those hidden gems, but at the same time incorporates newer tracks from upcoming artists. This mix is exactly that - a healthy mix of UK Garage from the past and present. Sit back, turn up the volume and enjoy!

He began his career in 2015 but his name began to sound in the underground of England in early 2020. From there he has shown a solid trajectory and with great international projections.

What came after the oldskool.......?

Distanced from the commercial sounds that UKG had become, away from the grime and broken best scenes that were forming, a bumpy sound started to emerge somewhere in early 2001. 

Innovative and energetic, skippy and fresh, this niche nuskool sound was a far cry from what preceded. 

And it needed to be. 

This often overlooked period - "the forgotten era" - was full of new producers and labels, with plenty of familiar faces at the forefront.

OK, so here’s me ... 
Started  my love of UK Garage from 1997 when flipping burgers at Mac Donald’s.  My pals at the time introduced me to a Sun City tape tape - Booker T and MC Creed and I was hooked from the first track. 

My local night club was just starting to play some garage on Monday night 50p a pint “oi oi” but it t wasn’t quite what I had head on that tape pack the previous year, so I then discovered a Garage Nation flyer Easter Special at the Club Colosseum, Vauxhall. Me and a few pals went, as we were queuing in the long line I heard the bass rumble of Buddy X by the dream team, I ran up the stairs feeling a little out of my comfort zone being in South London but I was there for the music and will never forget the rush of a night full of garage music. 
Fast forward to 1999 and I hadn’t missed a single Garage Nation, going to Colly on other nights - Delight FM launch Party, Inspiration, Exposure and the weekly Liberty. Garage Nation then moved clubs in the year 2000 and it's never been the same since in my opinion!
2001 I started my pirate radio work, Temptation FM in Cambridge with about 3 listeners and swiftly moved on to London's Subjam FM where I held the Thursday 4-6PM drive time show and loved it! Subjam was a platform for people like me who wanted to show  London a different side of UK Garage, not just the commercial side that was now mainstream but keeping it underground. Subjam had some great Djs that went on to have amazing DJ and production careers. 
I had my monthly night 'Intimacy' where I booked all the big Garage acts at the time, EZ, Heartless, Norris Da Boss Windross, Da Click, it was an honour to book the likes of Martin Larner who I had met from the nights at club Colly. One of our best Night's was was myself Djing with Sparks and Kie, a recording that I have uploaded on here. Check it out. And one of my proudest nights was when I teamed up with Garage Nation for a new year special. You couldn't move that night!  Ram Jam to say the least! 
2007 saw the end of Intimacy and my career as a DJ in the club scene and Radio, my first son was on the way and I wanted to be there for and with him. I hope one day he follows my footsteps (although not with the music I hear him listening too!) Now I have 2 sons and another one the way, I have picked up the headphones again and am collecting records once more. I will every now and then drop a mix and upload here. I will also be digging out the old tapes, mini discs and Ds to upload.
