A piece for Brigi, my family's backyard neighbor in Minnesota. She wanted me to write a piece about the Cottonwood tree that straddles our backyards. This piece depicts the tree, the birds and other critters that use it, and the wind that rustles the leaves. It is also a testament to the serenity of suburban life, which often gets a bad rap in popular culture but I think has a beauty worth exploring.
