Mixing Madness Tuesdays ep. 75

Tis the season of giving and I was gifted a Bandcamp gift card with about 2 hours to find new tracks.  I was able to gather 17, which I then filled out with various minimal that felt right at the time.  The Bandcamp tracks turned out way better than expected.  This mix is a step deeper in minimal than i normally take but it made for a fun, fresh, bouncy, bassy, groovy set.  Merry Christmas you filthy animals!

After successful shenanigans at Billy's I decided to keep this mix a little shorter.  This is a very interesting mix as it's a cross blend of some of my oldest minimal/house, some of my newest minimal, and some minimal bass house selected from all the folders I have.  The end result isn't necessarily my cleanest mix but it's definitely fun and if you are a long time follower you should recognize some of the older tracks and enjoy the nostalgia they bring!

Part 1 - It Was Supposed To Be Abandoned - Halloween Promo Mix 2024

Part 2 brings forth the creepy crawlies, the ghouls and goblins, the monsters that haunt you in your dreams.  Countless times you told your parents to check the closet after they check under your bed.  Every time they both appeared empty, free of harm.

But today was different.  The hectic schedule that fall brings resulted in only half of the checklist being completed.  You were assured that everything would be fine, it's always been empty, always been safe.  Not tonight.  Tonight you come face to face with your worst nightmare.  Their eyes pierce your comforter, you can feel them lingering.  You know the thick fabric is ultimately useless.  All you can hope is that it's not as hungry as it looks.  As you close your eyes and calm your breathing, there's only one thought in your head, one sentence you wish you could whisper to your parents...

Part 2 - Why Didn't You Check The Closet - Halloween Promo Mix 2024

Part 3 tells a cautionary tale of fool around, find out.  They looked so cute at first.  You were just taking a stroll back home when it fell out of the bushes.  There was only one of them, and their puppy dog pouts were hard to ignore.  Given their smaller stature, what harm could they possibly cause?

That was 2 days ago, and now there's more than could possibly be controlled.  The puppy dog pouts have been replaced with mischievous grins and irritable cackles. The final mix of this year's spooky sessions is also officially my debut Drum & Bass mix!  What started as a mini mix for a friend on vacation has been overhauled and upgraded to an hour of dark, deep, and spooky minimal drum & bass goodness.

  You have felt something watching you for weeks.  A nefarious gaze lingers, bringing about an unwelcome anxiety that refuses to subside.  Everyone just says you are paranoid, but the reoccurring nightmares persists.  Could it be a stalker, a creeper, a serial killer?  Your subconscious desperately wishes to figure out the who, what, and why, yet is never able to be granted an answer.

Unfortunately, today your wish was granted.  You wake up to find yourself on your back strapped down to a cold metal table, a half conscious, drooling mess.  The high tech computers and equipment in the room are almost suffocating.  You look down your chest to see something sinister and surreal eerily watching you struggle.  They are not alone, half a dozen in robes with faces that can't quite be made out stand behind the creature.  It almost reminds you of a surgeon performing an educational procedure for their students.  The otherworldly being reaches over to it's tools on the table as you realize the answer to your questions is worse then you could've ever imagined.  You think to yourself "If only I were at home asleep."  Because despite all the terrible dreams...

The nightmares felt safer.
