Luke Hess arrives on Rekids Special Projects with ‘Detroit Visions’.

With original releases and remix material on labels such as Omar S’ FXHE Records, Carl Craig’s Planet-E, Motech, Echocord, and his own DeepLabs imprint, Luke Hess is no stranger to expanding the boundaries of electronic music. Preparing his first full release on Rekids Special Projects this June, the Detroit born and raised DJ/producer drops four inventive techno cuts for Radio Slave’s imprint.

Across the release, Hess plays with classic dub techno sensibilities, distilling his years of experience into a set of highly playable, evolving club tracks. From the interplaying chords and pads on opener ‘Two Prophets’ to the dense acid lines on ‘Polymoon’, Hess’ mastery of the genre is on full display across ‘Detroit Visions’.

"I've been a fan of Matt's music and the label in general for ages and have played so many tracks from the catalogue in my DJ sets over the years. When Matt asked me for music, I was over the moon, and I still haven't quite come down yet. This EP is inspired by my mid-90s warehouse party days & the feeling I still get while driving around in Detroit. rus'me gets the remix treatment from Answer Code Request, Ben Sims & Pangaea. This is the first of two EPs featuring remixes of tracks from the Trus'me Planet 4 album. Answer Code Request takes Our Future into new territory with two outstanding mixes. Remix 1 moves things to a much more sinister & foreboding place. Tightening the feel & tension of the original with all the hallmarks of classic Berlin techno. Remix 2 winds up & coils the track into a searing workout of early 90's hardcore breakbeat. Ben Sims takes control of Ring Round Heart, pushing the tempo & creating a whole new urgency in the track. This is proper no nonsense heads down business & tight as you like. The mix builds excellently well & manages to produce an epic amount of feel and emotion, dropping in & out of the groove with a sneaky breakbeat & vocal dubs. Pangaea tackles one of the albums more esoteric tracks in The Unexplained. He manages to work a wonderfully intriguing steppers beat which drops from nowhere after the highly beguiling metronomic extended opening. The tracks are getting plenty of play & plaudits from likes of Ben UFO, DJ Deep, Bicep & Anthony Parasole.

With a heatwave of 18 tracks and a roster that spans as far wide around the globe as the genre diversity in the tracks, TR4R returns with Rough Cuts Vol. 2. Bringing in some familiar suspects, the compilation flexes some of the untapped corners of techno, breaks and pumping electro.

Clocking in at over 8 minutes, the Dublin duo deliver a fierce trance-nodding epic with the track “Calling.” The duo, who aren’t unfamiliar with rave cultivation, coalesces sounds of Copenhagen-infused trance and house aesthetics with a momentum that builds into one of the most emotionally invigorating cuts on the Rough Cuts Vol. 2 by the Germany-based label Too Rough 4 Radio.
