The Godless is a song about a warrior...

Once upon a dark time,
In the cold bloody north,
From ashes and war, 
from blood our warrior is born.

He was loved by heathens,
raised by enemy,
He mastered the sword and shield,
That was his destiny.

But this destiny was,
A thorn in his heart,
Lost the people he loved the most,
he fell apart.

The heathen bond was lost,
he ran away,
he found a great king, 
he had to obey.

The great king believed
in a nailed god,
If we have no faith (he said),
Everything would be darkness and mud.

Our warrior was pagan,
but the king needed his sword,
Dire war was ahead,
Cruelty, blood and gore.

The warrior won the battles,
gave the king his desire,
But the king, ungrateful he was,
Warrior's spirit  was made of fire.

He was feared and hateful,
A heathen slayer with madness,
He had to escape,
He was the Godless.

His destiny tested harshly,
His dear wife died!
He lost her smile, he lost her strength,
For the first time he cried.

He returned to fight again,
to spread terror and disdain.
He won more battles then,
the only way to endure the pain.

His deepest dream , his homeland he lost.
And than dream...vanished!
But one day he will return,
For he was the Godless.
