Snow (ReDominator Synth Song Challenge)

In the six-minute track “Ingá-Elektra,” Norwegian artist Charlotte Bendiks masterfully weaves ancient and repetitive forms into a hypnotic, atmospheric soundscape that feels both sci-fi and shamanic. She is joined by Horatiu Serbanescu, aka Plevna, who creates melodies from the rich traditions of manele—a genre blending Balkan, Turkish, Arabic, Romani, and Greek influences. “Ingá-Elektra” is named after my daughter and has a double-barrelled meaning; Ingá comes from her Sámi grandmother of the same name and Elektra references the Greek word ēlektēr (ἠλέκτωρ _or ἠλέκτρα), which means ‘radiant’ and ‘shining’. It also happens to be one of the brightest stars within the Pleiades star cluster, otherwise known as the Seven Sisters constellation. The track that emerged from these references carries a deeply collaborative spirit—one rooted in bridging cultural traditions, breaking geographic boundaries, and communal joy. When I listen, I feel radiance and resistance that is sent out across time and space. Just as stars take light years to reach us, the transmission of music endures long after its creation. These sonic echoes are an homage: to Ingá-Elektra, to Ima Flora, to all daughters, to all sisters, to the generation poised to inherit this complicated, collapsing world. Like the transformative energy of a star’s death, may we break open the current order and breathe life into building a new one. —Tanya Busse

Oslo based house pushers Badabing Diskos enter the world of vinyl with an allstar family affair in 2025. After decades of cementing themselves as an integral part of the Norwegian scene they continue their quest for presenting feel good energy. The inaugural EP spans across three innovative cuts from, Jarle Brathen, Vinny Villbass and label regular, Sommerfeldt. Each of the tracks telling their own late night tales, melding genres as they move. 

Opening track “No Restaurants” by Jarle Brathen is an explosive launch into the EP, spiralling synths continue to simmer and swirl as the track evolves. A killer bass arrangement strikes heavy, using pensive vocals to expand on the trip. Vinny Villbass showcases beautiful textures with his input “Just In Time”, punchy drum patterns combined with dreamy and ethereal pads which create a distinct atmosphere which will be circulating dancefloors in the coming months. Sommerfeldt closes out the EP with pure dance floor frenzy. Peak time action from the flourishing producer, rave tinged movements as the oscillating, and winding groove continues to transcend. A track for the gear shifting moments on the dance floor. 

The tastemakers amongst us will enjoy wrapping their keen ears around this essential package. Badabing diskos showcasing what can be expected from them in the coming years, as they reach an exciting point of their journey, spreading positive vibes through house music, keeping the nostalgia at its heartbeat but moving forward with modern influences.

Off Duty Events presents: C&K – Live at Foajeen (Part 1)
Recorded live on March 1st, 2025, this mix marks the very first Off Duty event at Foajeen in Kristiansand—a new series dedicated to showcasing deep, soulful, and groove-driven sounds in intimate settings.

For this opening night, we welcomed the transatlantic duo C&K (Connie & Karina). Known for their genre-blending selections and dynamic chemistry, the pair delivered an unforgettable b2b set, weaving seamlessly between vinyl and digital formats. Expect a journey through deep house, groovy rhythms, and rich textures—touching on everything from Detroit-inspired warmth to dubby Romanian minimal and jazzy, emotive layers.

C&K is the collaboration between Connie Yin, a New York-based DJ and ReSolute resident, and Karina Chaczbabian, a Norwegian producer and vinyl DJ, influenced by time spent between Norway, Berlin, and Ibiza. Together, they fuse deep musical sensitivity with an effortless ability to read the crowd and feel the room’s energy.

This recording is Part 1 of their set from the night—an opening statement for the Off Duty series and a taste of what’s to come.

Pål "Strangefruit" Nyhus is a true pioneer of the Norwegian electronic music scene. A defining force since the early 1990s, he has played a key role in shaping the eclectic and forward-thinking sound of Nordic electronica, and is widely regarded as a major influence by a new generation of artists—including Prins Thomas and Todd Terje.

From 1997 to 2002, Strangefruit hosted his own radio show on the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation (NRK), championing cutting-edge music for a national audience. In 2002, he was voted Best Norwegian DJ by a jury of industry professionals, music journalists, and readers of Natt&Dag magazine.

Nyhus is also a longtime member of Nils Petter Molvær’s Khmer band and co-founder of the acclaimed project Mungolian Jetset. Known for their wildly imaginative sonic universe and boundary-breaking remixes, Mungolian Jetset rose to international prominence with their signature blend of cosmic disco, jazz-laced electronica, and surreal conceptualism. Their 2009 double-album We Gave It Away, Now We Are Taking It Back—released on Smalltown Supersound—compiled the cream of their expansive remix work alongside a selection of original tracks, cementing their status as one of Norway’s most visionary electronic acts.

With over three decades behind the decks, Strangefruit is a master selector known for blending historical and contemporary rhythmic styles into rich, unpredictable DJ sets that defy categorization.
