Cold sweat and alarming thoughts ran wild within Nicolas's space helmet, as a realization of the inherent risks of an impromptu space expedition were seeping in.

"Can this thing even land, or moreover am I able to do such a thing? Or supposing that happens and Quantum Heap survives in one piece, am I able to take off again?" thought Nicolas. Little did he know that those questions would be answered sooner than he had expected.

Suddenly an alarm went off in the ship. "Oh Lord Abyss what now" cried out Nicolas, and the ship's AI informed him that the fuel reserves had began to run low. By some miracle the AI almost simultaneously discovered a nearby planet with faint vital signs. Left with very few options, Nicolas began the descent towards this previously undiscovered planet. As fear and excitement ran amok within him, he felt his heart rate increase and a new sense of purpose began to emerge, as his so far trusty vessel broke through the planet's atmosphere.

Miraculously the landing did not total the spaceship, and Nicolas stepped out to observe his newfound surroundings he hesitated yet to call his new home.

Heat

A strange tranquility fell upon Nicolas, as Quantum Heap began to rumble in the launchpad, and the starship began ascending towards the great unknown. He was at peace.

As time passed, several things he had not previously thought of suddenly came rushing in. Did he have enough food and water to sustain his remaining years, should he not find any from the depths of space? What if the new species he might discover are hostile or don't speak english? Did he leave the stove on?

The short term inner peace Nicolas had achieved began to sway, as something entirely else began to take over him.

Fear of the unknown.

Liftoff

The time had come, as masses of curious bystanders and alarmed authorities gathered around, Nicolas walked with determination towards his surprisingly well built starship he had named "Quantum Heap". 

Nicolas entered the vessel, went into the cockpit and pushed all sorts of buttons with a vague idea yet unwavering confidence in what he was doing. Eventually the ship's AI responded with a seductive voice:

"Greetings Nicolas, all systems are go. Prepare for liftoff"

And for the first time in a long time, Nicolas smiled.

All Systems Are Go

Nicolas was alone. Stuck in a dead-end job, surrounded with people he did not much like and mountains of liabilities weighing him down. Desperate to break free from the cage that had become his life, he one day decided to leave his worries behind, and blast himself into space. 

His narrow-minded neighbours and local authorities did not much appreciate his makeshift space station he had built in his backyard, but he did not care. This was his design, a chance to finally break free and he was about to take it.

Jaromir Lager is a collaboration of two Helsinki-based dudes with complimenting tastes and flaws as composers and producers. The project is a daring venture to eventually achieve the sonic equivalent of a mullet, mainly through the usage of synthesizers and aggressively cheesy guitar solos.
