summary:
this song is about someone who has committed a serious crime and is about to face the death sentence. it is about the regret she has for herself and her loved ones who still care about her.

differentiation factor:
the thing i would consider to be different about this song is the ways it can be portrayed. it was written directly to depict the story of an inmate about to die which is not exactly something everyone can relate to, but it was written vague enough such that it can also be applied in so many other situations. it can be used to portray someone's situation when they feel they are leaving someone close to them behind or when someone feels immense regret over something they did which they thought would be good for them at first or when someone is very unsure of what the future would hold for them but has to leave their life behind to find out. my differentiation factor is the feature that many people currently going through their own different life situations can relate in their own way to this one single song.

delivery:
i wanted this piece to sound as desolate as possible to further emphasise on how lonely she was feeling, so i left this piece rather empty, with only a constant piano backing and drums. the straight drum beat was added after the chorus to portray the main character making her way resignedly towards the location where her life would be taken, showing that she had given up and stopped fighting the inevitable. the vocals were deliberately delivered more shakily in the second chorus to show how scared she felt at how close she was to her death. finally, the fade out was decided as i wanted to explain that even though she has passed, everyone else's lives still go on.

summary: this song is about a girl who is so fearful of real life that she refuses to face reality and the outside world. she chooses to keep to herself in her own little "world" while she questions why others would choose to live a life that she claims is hell.

differentiation factor: the concept of this song is what makes it different. it is commonly known for people to want to be free and do what they want in the world. we live in a society where people enjoy stumbling upon or finding new objects or revelations. people like to venture out and discover new things that humans have not come across. however, this song shows the perspective of someone who not only does not want to follow this norm, but also refuses to associate herself with anything of this "messed-up" world, and longs to be caged up and locked away.

delivery: i chose an incredibly simple piano backing for this track to further show how closed up the girl's mind is and added a harsh reverb on the vocals to portray her being in an enclosed space with absolutely nothing with her. i chose to deliver this song with an unsteady beat/without using a metronome to show that her life doesn't revolve around society's norms and that the beat goes entirely by her emotions. this song's lyrics were written with the persona in mind, so I deliberately didn't have any lyrics rhyme to further emphasise on how separated she's made herself, to show how raw and different she is from the world she so despises.

summary: this song is about someone who is tired of human nature and free will. she desires to become an android, to feel nothing and to be made perfect, only being told what to do. she detests her own human mind and heart, wanting nothing more than to get rid of them. she would rather have whatever happiness still left in her be ripped away than to suffer from other negative emotions. she believes that if everyone was made without free will, the world would be void of destruction and pain. 

differentiation factor: what makes my piece different is the concept. most people dream of and long to be free, to make their own decisions in life and do and feel what they want. however, this song was written in the pov of someone who wants the complete opposite, to be made without will or choice, without feelings. it is based on the idea that if everyone didn't have emotions, the world would be in order and at peace.

delivery: i started this piece with an acoustic instrumentation which then transitioned to a more synth and electronic sound to signify the character's wish to transform from human to a machine. i deliberately made the switch of instrumentation after the line "take away my happiness i don't need to be alive" to mark the exact moment she made her decision to change. however, i left the raw piano backing in throughout the entire piece to show that no matter how strongly she feels, her human desires and emotions will always still remain and it'll be impossible for her to transform completely.
