LIVE SETS

I like all the old school striped back sounds of detroit -  the beautiful and creative nature that comes with street music, being a kid from the Western suburbs of Blacktown we grew up on and idealised rap, hence why I've always been so attracted to rebellious lyrics.

This mix sounded really good live - the recording was blown out by the bass - however, im not re-recording it, because its a phat set and I really enjoyed playing it ... so there ;P 

All jokes aside, my well created journey sets have been different - playing with more pop infused music.
I've been more intune with the audience lately and finding new and creative ways to showcase a certain element or isolate a vocal to give more of kick to the overall message bring the entire theme together than previously where I would be  journeying from the start and ending heavy. 

This set, like most of my post lockdown sets are really attempting to get people in the room moving, dancing and feeling again a connection with music again,  with little snippets of tracks such as Martines Brothers Closer layered into it to help creative a vibe , such a great track for Melbourne's dance floors right now.  

I'm still very much saying things and taking my audience on a journey - its all very much a revival of the music scene and what that means to me and everyone can be shared, a feeling of 'community' togetherness and the exciting path forward towards our evolution as a species. 

I'm at 303 each week, playing for new night is something i am LOVING and i have to say its a VIBE at 303, sound is amazing- each week has been packed with good humans and high vibrations for sure, the place is going to become the 'spot' for the Melbourne dance community. 

Such an honor to share space with people like Thank You City producers who I really look up to and Muska who's been doing an incredible job not only with this party but also in helping pave the way for more females in the music industry.

Live set - Crush club @ 303 sydney rd

This set was one that I really looked forward to, I always love playing @revolverupstairs - the atmosphere there is always one of intense listeners and you can only really prepare to play, what you play depends on how the beautiful party people are feeling collectively at the moment you jump on. 
Because its so vast. 

Put it this, whenever someone asks you 'what should I play at Revs' besides doing your homework and listening to the DJ mixes who is playing before you and after you ( this is a massive way to increase your awareness of how the night / day is going to flow) 
Its determined on the audience, what do they or dont they need right now, at this very moment, sure whats the DJ before me playing plays a big part in it - its a vibe, do we need some light funky house, would a dash of prog do well here? or it that too heavy for these ears right now? you know, you need people to be captured and feel something, feel warm, feel happy and light, peaceful, like its all going to be ok, tomorrow is yesterdays problem - that sort of thing. 

Anyway, that might seem a bit deep for thinking about 'what am i going to play ' but its not, not really, most DJs would think along those lines when jumping on and if they do set prep than your thinking about the whole journey from start to end, at least I try to imagine it that way.
The more you play at a venue for a party, the better you can get a sense for what people need at what times, theres no fast quick way to play the best set of your life each time ( even though that is always my goal) its always important to think about your audience, especially the ones who are their each week, because they are ones who know what to expect you know at 7pm at Revs what do people expect to hear? I'd say good beaty music and depending on the day maybe a light bassy riff with some sweet flowy vocal.

This track and lyrics came to me when I was in a deeply meditative state and is my preyer to Guya mother earth.

Whilst in this state I was pondering on gods good grace and whether or not we can be fully realised with and be released of our wounded karmas.

I contemplate things such as this one for months sometimes years they are said to be alikeness to thought experiments where you hold an idea into your consciousness state of mind until you are guided to an answer many artists such as Einstein were practicing these ‘thought experiments’ in order to gain new knowledge and understandings

This is a jazzy mix, with all of my favourite elements, hip -hop to deep tech, techno and everything in between. 
I truly had one of the best times up on stage at @ BlueFig Bar Newtown will be doing it all again soon :) 

I was showing off the genres, i always strive to make my sets the bets they can be, i practice them, i listen and update my personal style when i feel the call to. 
Change is apart of all of us, for me i naturally will sync with people and music no different.

I grew up loving 2 Pac, blasting the Slim Shady EP so when i was asked to headline This is Living i thought what better chance did i have to show people what i love, all the various sides and just how diverse a set can be. When i started playing Tech-house i wanted more people to fall in love with it, so i found as many hip-hop remixed tracks as i could and played what i would claim to be 'pop tech-house' or Party-tech, people who only get their music from the radio wouldn't essentially know the playlist but many club kids surely did. 

When i'd have people come up and tell me things like 'i normally dont like tech-house but when you play it i do' , that would make my day. 

I'll admit, this wasn't for everyone, and most of my sets are very structured and flow from the start to the end, this was much more of a 'push pull' set. 

Overall, a lot of fun. i hope you the listener can feel the joy expressed through this hour.

This is a set where i played it safe in terms of track selection the environment calls for well know music, I'm a fan of playing for the crowed. 
I started heavier than i would normally but, the audience was amped, mainly due to a close friends birthday being in.

Jasmine Speers Live Set - Barton And Fink - Melb (4.5.19)

I was so blessed to be able to play for Day Spa! They have one of the best parties in Melbourne, and always have such an amazing time there. 

When I got asked to open for Arm in Arm I was blown away, they are such amazing artists! 

My set was mixed out of Tech House and taken into a House and Progressive style. Using most of my traditional methods of prep has always paid off, taking the time to create something special for the audience has always been a high light of mine and will continue to be.  The amount of time I spend in curation is sometimes in the weeks, but its, always, always such an honor and gift to be able to share myself and the music i have with people. 

I loved playing @Jayteens Remix of @colourcastles track Night Roads, it is one of my favourite tracks and is a sound that I believe I am organically following at the moment. 
I also put together something special for Day Spa, given it was their 3rd birthday I play a mash up of Happy Birthday Mr.President. 

I've definitely experienced some interesting things on stage, but my top breaking half way through was a new one!

What a treat we had!! I put this set together with the intention to inspire others to love and live freely, I have always enjoyed putting together set and this one saw me play some of my all time favourites as well as new tracks that I am really loving. 
I'd say now since I have started using samples in my sets, they have become far more interactive - this time around I used Heaven and worked it into a techno track also named Heaven. 
Playing local producers like @rubberpopel track - Relight My Fire 
and my favourite track at the moment would be - Out Of Time ft Sasha Polica

I do spend a bit of time putting tracks together - I always have and I really enjoyed the over all flow, its far more 'push pull' rather than my regular style :)
