Swiss duo ME & her join the Hottrax roster with a robust release featuring British duo Dense & Pika and Detroit’s DJ Bone on remix duties.

With recent appearances on Deeperfect, Natura Viva and Clarisse Records, the rising duo has quickly cemented a reputation as ones to watch since making their production debut back in 2014. Joining them on the release is Dense & Pika, who have been taking the world by storm whilst releasing on leading labels such as Adam Beyer’s Drumcode, Scuba’s Hotflush, not to mention renowned UK imprint Hypercolour. Meanwhile, DJ Bone needs little introduction having paved the way for quality techno for over two decades including running his renowned Subject Detroit imprint.

Sturdy kicks and intricate effects drive ‘Wild Rage’ forward before introducing metallic snares and animated melodies. On the other hand, ‘Thunderstruck’ is a dusky production composed of heady stabs and echoing elements that together generate a compelling groove. Dense & Pika’s shuffling remix of ‘Wild Rage’ shines a spotlight on a tantalizing synth as eerie nuances operate throughout, before DJ Bone concludes the package with a trippy and percussive reinterpretation of his own.

Over a 15-year period Truesoul has set the standard for engaging and effective club music, drawing in fans from across the techno spectrum. A relentless dedication to quality means it’s logistically impossible for Adam Beyer to release music from all the impressive artists who send him tracks each year for Truesoul. This EP showcases four such outstanding cuts, all of which have been tried and tested in Beyer’s sets in recent months. Indeed, anyone who witnessed his deliciously groove-ridden daytime set at Sonus Festival in August (or listened via episode DCR370), would have already been treated to an unofficial preview of the release. 

Belgian’s Ramon Tapia kicks the EP off in superb style with ‘Hexagon’, an energetic slice of techno that builds towards a pumping finish. Fast rising Manchester duo OC & Verde team up with Italian producer Veerus for ‘Naaki’, the track highlighted by a rousing call-to-arms vocal that saw it go down a storm during Beyer’s annual gig on the Amnesia Terrace for Cocoon in Ibiza. The beautiful vocal-led ‘Take My Life’ follows courtesy of Spaniard Marc Marzenit, adding an extra dimension to the release, while still having enough percussive fizz to keep the dancefloor moving. Southampton’s Ronnie Spiteri is another emerging talent to create waves in 2017 and he delivers the knockout blow with ‘Sugar Lips’, a chunky soul-infused offering that’ll be effective in house and techno sets alike.

Carl Cox is an industry figurehead whos legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell.

Intec's new release is from UMEK who is a Slovenian artist accredited with kick-starting the techno scene in his home country, before earning critical acclaim on a global scale when he first started his career in the 90s.

Having released on labels ranging from CLR and Novamute right through to Toolroom, in recent years UMEK's own imprint "1605" has also become a main outlet for his music.

People with a good knowledge of technos history will be more than aware of the impact of UMEKs classics tracks, such as his anthemic Gatex that came out only a few years before his first Intec release in 2005.

Having also collaborated with many influential figures such as Chris Liebing and Joey Beltram, this new solo EP is UMEKs third release on Intec.

Titled Percussionix the EP opens with (Mix 1) which centres around a thick set bassline cut with filter sweeps and full of menacing intent. Leading the track is a combination of tribal percussion loops, which provide the track's main driving force.

Track two is UMEKs alternative mix of Percussionix which titled (Mix 2) has a more refined sound with the raw edges of the percussion being rounded off to smooth the sound, and its bassline is left unfiltered so it becomes more of a gradual sweep that grows with building tension.

EARLIEST MUSICAL INFLUENCES?
I have very vivid memories of the road trips my family used to have when I was a little kid, either going to the beach or to the countryside, or even abroad, on which my father was always blasting stuff like The Beatles, Iron Butterfly, or Phil Collins, he used to bang his fingers on the dashboard of the car doing the infamous drum fill on “In The Air Tonight”. His passion for music really struck me, this intensity of listening to amazing music loud and finger drumming on the wheel and dashboard was so contagious, it simply shaped my whole life. Crazy…it’s the simple things...

Patrick Mason and Rekids boss Matt Edwards return for their second appearance as SRVD with two cuts entitled ‘RAW FILES’.

Not confined to a single art form, Patrick Mason is a young creative at the forefront of Berlin’s art, fashion, dance music and LGBT scene; an influential club kid who developed a friendship with Matt Edwards after a chance meeting in Panorama Bar, resulting in numerous studio sessions and improvised live sets. Joining forces in 2018, the pair adopted their SRVD moniker – an alias inspired by New York’s vogue scene – before dropping their debut release on Rekids, playing at various clubs (notably Panorama Bar), not to mention an unforgettable performance at Boiler Room x Pornceptual.

‘The Yard Man’ presents rattling drums, piercing vocal chants and a tormenting melody that SRVD has been destroying dancefloors with over the last year. On the flip, ‘Brotha’ presents a compelling groove as a shuffling rhythm joins abrasive synths and Mason’s penetrating voice.

Truesoul continues 2019 in stunning form, with a fantastic original from Riva Starr and a trio of classy remixes from the Italian master’s ‘Curveballs’ album. 

Almost 15 years deep into his career and the Napoli-born, London dwelling Riva Starr (aka Stefano Miele) remains one of electronic music’s most eclectic selectors, his production repertoire encompassing house, techno, breakbeat and beyond. Making his debut on Truesoul in 2017, his contributions include a memorable collaborative EP with Tiger Stripes titled ‘Sound of the Bettest’ and his fourth album ‘Curveballs’ released in October 2018.

Such is the high regard Adam Beyer holds Riva Starr, that it wasn’t long before a return to Truesoul was on the cards. ‘Jill Wears Black’ leads the package, a masterclass in fleetfooted dynamics as multi-layered strings, undulating bass and punchy percussion rub shoulders throughout the six-minute cut. An inspired composition that’s already highlighted Resistance in Ibiza, Elrow and a host of festivals throughout the summer months.

On the remix front, Truesoul has recruited three of the finest to remix Riva’s ‘Curveball’ originals. Drumcode mainstay Layton Giordani steps up for his first Truesoul outing since 2016, reworking ‘The Hole’ into a throbbing peak-time weapon. Marquis Hawkes, one of the Italian’s favourite producer of late, also joins the project, delivering a glistening, spacey interpretation of ‘Piknik’. Firebrand Harvey McKay delivers a trademark powerful re-rub of ‘Disco Loco’, taking the synths of the original and jacking up the intensity to bring it into peak-time techno territory.

Time for some more new music from one of our favorite labels here at LAMP. Over the past couple years We Are The Brave has quickly become one of the top record labels showcasing some of the worlds top producers of House and Techno. Headed up by Alan Fitzpatrick he has put together a massive compilation ELECTRIC SOUL MUSIC VOL. 1 that is set for release May 3rd. There are 20 brand new original tracks from a huge assortment of producers that have caught the eye of Fitzpatrick recently. We are honored to be a to give you a sneak peak of one of the tracks. One artist that has really been standing out for me over the past couple of years is Frankyeffe. He has been working tirelessly for many many years and his efforts are quickly gaining him much deserved attention. He returns to the label with his contribution to the compilation "The Legend".

Rumbling through your brain like a freight train at full speed a fierce groove hits you right in the face from the first beat. Luckily we are just getting started as a few little percs enter the fray giving us some more momentum. A quick little drum break and Frankyeffe is about to set is into hyperspeed, as he brings in the most fantastic rave stabs one could ever hope for, shooting us off out into outer space. If you enjoy good house and techno and cant get excited about this track you might want to have your pulse checked. This is an instant classic that will stand the test of time and still be a banger 20 years from now. I feel like I can say that about quite a few tracks on this compilation and label as a whole. A huge testament to the man Alan Fitzpatrick and the team supporting him with the label. Make sure to grab the pre-order so you can enjoy the album in its entirety when it drops May 3rd.
