This track is part of a new collection I have been working on called "The Falling Moon", where the protagonists find themselves passing between worlds of the living and the dead. I've been working with a new vocal synthesizer, too, to realize the lyrics. Hope you enjoy it! :)

An Artist Remembers

An electronic track with three synthesized vocal parts, sung in the voices of robots seeking freedom and recognition as living things. Style has synthwave elements, inspired by a larger story I have been working on about the lives of artificially intelligent machines.

A track from my opera (in development) called "Fifty Yards To Freedom", which tells the tale of Anna as she confronts her fear and trauma with the help of Figment, the embodiment of her self-protective instincts. In this duet, Anna (the soprano) is pursued by the Darkness (the bass) a malevolent force that seeks to drain her of hope.

Cold To The Touch (from my opera "Fifty Yards To Freedom")

One of the closing pieces from my developing opera "Fifty Yards To Freedom," which tells the story of Anna as she confronts her fear and trauma with the help of Figment, the embodiment of her instinct for self-preservation.

In this chorus, the malevolent Darkness (the Bass) tells Anna (the soprano) that she must seal her fate by stepping into one of three bright lights. The benevolent Moonbots (tenor chorus) try to help her, as the Darkness attempts to drain her of hope.

Electronic track with lyrics in the voices of two artificial intelligences who each control a starship. They fall in love as they travel beyond the moon.

Cinematic Symphony is a collection of orchestral works inspired by scenes and characters in film and video games.  They demonstrate how I might approach scoring a scene from such a movie or video game.  These pieces are not adaptions of existing scores, but rather original work by myself.

"Pirate's Haven" was inspired by movies such as "Pirates of the Caribbean" and the town of "Buccaneer's Den" in the "Ultima" video game series.

Cinematic Symphony is a collection of orchestral works inspired by scenes and characters in film and video games. They demonstrate how I might approach scoring a scene from such a movie or video game. These pieces are not adaptions of existing scores, but rather original work by myself.

The Zombie Wasteland is an unsettling atmospheric piece inspired by zombie games such as "Left 4 Dead".  Imagine looking out from a safe house and seeing a wasteland populated by shuffling, groaning zombies.

Cinematic Symphony - The Zombie Wasteland

Hi All, I've been returning to my roots recently, writing a series of tracks that serve as the soundtrack to an imagined archetypal Role-Playing Game (RPG) for computers or consoles.  This movement of the piece broadly follows a narrative in which the player's avatar (the Hero) in the game enters a shrouded fog-where shadows take corporeal form.  After encountering the shadows and attempting to relay a message, they attack and the hero battles them to a stalemate. As they tend their wounds, a dialog between the wary hero and the misunderstood shadows ensues.

All instrumentation used in this piece was created by Orchestral Tools, one of my favourite sample library studios and publishers.  I particularly enjoyed using their solo string "First Chairs" library for the string sounds, and the brass and choir from the Metropolis Ark 1 epic orchestral library that OT released recently.

Where The Shadows Dwell

Inspired by dramatically situated places such as Star Wars' Cloud City, or the mountaintop monastery High Hrothgar in Skyrim.  Writing this piece gave me a chance to work with 8Dio's Adagio Violins and Spitfire Audio's Harp sample libraries.

I'm a composer with credits for film and concert music, and my music has won or been nominated for awards from Western Canadian Music Awards, the Independent Music Awards, the Geminis, and funders such as the Canada Council, Saskatchewan Arts Board, FACTOR and the SOCAN Foundation. 

In April, 2021 I received my PhD in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Regina, where I wrote a thesis on algorithmic music and its impact upon the composer. during that time I created several apps, including a musical score for the university campus using augmented reality on an iPhone.  

I am based in the Toronto area, and would love to hear from anyone who wants to comment on my music, who might want to collaborate on a project that needs a great score, or who just wants to say "hi."
