A mother and her sleeping baby are riding on an old, gently rocking train. In the background is an abandoned city that the mother and her child have left. The father was forced to stay behind and fight in the war. Their farewells were quick and unexpected; there wasn't time for feelings or affection because the enemy was gaining ground quickly.  The mother couldn't process her feelings about the sudden turn of events until now. A tear rolled down her cheek as reality settled in. She may never see her husband again, furthermore, her son may grow up never knowing his father. "No," she whispered suddenly, "my husband is a strong man, we will meet again..."   She wiped the tears from her eyes and held the baby tighter and whispered, "I promise."

Farewell

Sunrise

A young boy is sitting at the window of his room and reading a book. He glances up from the second-story of his house into the overcast day and notices another boy playing in the grass. He puts the book down and runs out to join his friend. 

As time passes, the boy, a teenager now, walks into his room filled with boxes of his belongings. He takes one last glimpse around his room to check if he forgot anything, and he notices a book lying on the windowsill. He picks up the book and slowly flips through the pages . He sets it back down gently and leaves with his last box. 

Many years later, an elderly man walks through the home of his childhood. He stops at a particular door and gently pushes it open. He notices his grandson sitting at the windowsill and flipping through a book. The man slowly walks over and sits with him. He opens his mouth to speak, but pauses for a moment when he sees a familiar book in his grandson's lap. A tear runs down his smiling face. For a moment, he was a kid again

For A Moment

Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led Him away.  
And He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center. Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was:

JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

Then many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.
Therefore the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘He said, “I am the King of the Jews.”’”
Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”
Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts...
After this, Jesus, knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, said, “I thirst!” 
Now a vessel full of sour wine was sitting there; and they filled a sponge with sour wine, put it on hyssop, and put it to His mouth. 
So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.

John 19:16-23, 28-30

I imagined Jesus carrying his cross. Chaos is around him: people yelling, spitting, and hitting him. He stumbles, but gets back up. He is calm inside because he knows his purpose: giving himself up as a sacrifice to save mankind from it's sinful ways.
