Spearheaded by Eric, the Friends of Ngoma represent a consortium of creative influences out of Portland Oregon. Special recognition goes out to Sir Arthur Hull, Kim Atkinson, Caton Lyles, Ruby Burns, T-bone Tyron Talbort and Crew. 

Eric's opening call to this track was before having found the Bahai faith and a personal practice rooted in Hatha Yoga. He is Father and  figure-head to his son Rune who is almost 19; they both reside in Portland Oregon. 

Lead Shekere', rhythmical arrangements, orchestration and instruction by Eric Kelley.

The Friends of Ngoma began as a study group whom took an interest in Rhythm Culture(s) and Mayan Time Science. Steeped in rich indigenous traditions & eclectic demographic elements found throughout what has now been coined as "Portlandia' Oregon" or "Cascadia PAN," our repertoire of interest was spear-headed and focused by Mr. Eric Kelley in 1994'-95'. 

Eric studied under the wing of Mr. Arthur Hull while at the University of Santa Cruz California. The group was catalyzed by mean's of the West African Drum and Dance scene in Northeast Portland and through the influence of individuals like Mr. Kim Atkinson, Ms. Virginia Lopez and Mr. Caton Lyles. As legend has it, Eric Kelley Aaron Johnson, Jason G. Gibson, Jim Gilliand, Richie Goldstein, Harry Callow, Jeff Gillian and T-Bone Tyron Talbort we're participant's in Ruby Burn's weekly dance class and performed live for schools, special events & spontaneously in parks throughout NE and SE Portland. 

Special recognition and "big thanks" go out to Brad & our friends at African Rhythm Traders, Village Spirit Marimba and the African American Ballet for inspiration
