Crossing The Great Diesis: This String Quartet, performed in Seattle,  is inspired by links I find interesting between Tuning & Temperament, philosophy, literature, and melodic texture. The Great Diesis seems to have not only mathematical meaning but metaphysical meaning as well.  

Han is Searching: This midi file is part of the remains of a score for a play I was commissioned to compose the music for in Thailand for the Royal Family and other VIP Donors. Although the event was delayed indefinitely, the music remains waiting to be recorded live. 

Plato's Meno: This Piano & Voice piece explores the variations and emotions contained in the opening phrase of Plato's Meno dialogue "Can you tell" "Can you Teach". Those are questions which I ask myself about the nature of creativity. The melodic line of the piano is the result of an abstract analysis I had just conducted on J.S. Bach's Fugue in C Minor from the WTC Bk 1 wherein I explored a link between Bach and Cengkok, a melodic technique in Indonesian Gamelan Music

Crossing The Great Diesis

While I consider myself a composer of ensemble music, much of the music i am posting on Soundcloud is music that I composed on guitar or piano and then wrote-out in a midi format for fun. This first group of pieces are a good introduction to my emotional, poetic, and narrative approach to melodic texture and i think they show my personality, which is useful for framing the music found in other playlists, some of which is 'etude' oriented and feels different from the rest of my music as a result.

My music results from Integer spaces, and from an on going effort to delineate  how numbers relate to melodic texture. These are not "inspired ideas", so much as they are observed possibilities.
