Just an idea I was messing with and decided to use it to test this out. Mixed poorly on caustic, was mostly just to play around.

FirstIdea

Something kind of creepy with a fun melody. Was aiming for a dark tone and just kind of played around getting used to all of this. I just started with that loud dark burping sound and tried to work everything around that. I hope you like it and I hope to become a better song writer in the future. I'm well aware this is pretty basic but I really like this. Maybe one day I'll remix this when I'm just better over all. (Started off thinking of being in an abandoned warehouse or factory.)

Futuristic Abandoned Warehouse

Found a bunch of scales I wanted to try out. So here I am playing with 1, b3, 4, b6, and b7. This is like less than a demo but its something. I was getting antsy not uploading something.

Cave Dwelling Optimism

This is an old bass thing I wrote that I love playing but never did anything with...until now. Well it's still unfinished but it is going to be a little bit of time before I am ready to put more into it. 

So there is a list of things I want to do to this like replace the "solo" as well as write guitar parts for the other parts of the song. Also I may actually take a crack at lyrics and singing but still that would most likely be last. Other things I wanted I wanted to try out was some recording/mixing techniques like panning and layering. 

This is my first upload of me playing instruments (Bass and guitar...my drum skills are not even close to ready yet.)Sure there are some timing issues from one not practicing enough and two latency that I'm having trouble resolving.

Any way I hope everyone likes it and wants to hear the final product. Thanks for giving the time to listen and read this.

(edit 7/31/21: added a simple guitar part to 2 parts and a rough tapping part in the "solo". you can clearly hearing me have trouble getting a sound out of that last fret but right now its the best I can do.)

Unfinished Peek

I don't know what happened. This went off the rails but yet is reflective of what goes on in my head. I felt that my songs have had a kind of mechanical structure so I wanted to try and free myself. Honestly I am not sure this helped but I played around with chords some and then let it get weird when I was stuck on what to do next.

Why do you do this?

Like usual I'm just messing around. I want to increase the rate of my uploads and hope in time I can take things further. I have other things in the works that I really like but those I want to take my time with so in the meantime I still like doing things like these in between.

Is it out yet?

This came from being generally frustrated with my work life. Personally I am a passive/aggressive who is currently brooding about dealing with a coworker who's shitty behavior is enabled by management. The signs have increasingly shown that it's time for a new job but I like the work and I am paid accordingly, plus the hours are good. I am almost positive that no matter what path I take the situation nothing good will come from this.

Any way I don't know much music theory or how modes work but I was aiming to play around with C# Dorian.

Passive Brooding

Quick little thing for Halloween and its been a while since I've uploaded last. Currently I've been taking guitar lessons and have been working on some things where I am playing instruments. This is not one but I was feeling a bit inspired learning the harmonic minor scale. Well here I started with it but switched to G#min since G# was my raised 7th in the beginning of this. Again not completely sure how to use theory how how to accent certain sounds but this was fun to make. Hopefully soon I can stop getting stuck at around this phase.

Jack'o'nothing

This started off years ago when I was a custodian at a college. A perk was free classes so I took an into to music theory. One of the buildings I had to clean had a beautiful grand piano that I would play around on when my work was done and I needed to kill time until my overnight shift was over. This is where the melody came from. Also this is my first upload where I am playing my electric drums. So everything you hear is my playing on this one. Sure things need to be cleaned up, more dynamic, more interesting, but I'd also like to just get this out there so I can move forward. This is 2 of 3 of my older stuff that I just want uploaded so I can focus on writing new stuff on my instruments.

Old Blue

This is my first attempt playing around with one of those loop pad apps, Groovepad more specifically. This was actually a ton of fun to play around with. I'm definitely going to look into getting a real one at some point in the near future. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Edit (12/24/24): What was interesting for me with this track is it was more of a live jam session than planned out. A rare moment of hyper focus where I felt in the zone. The best I could describe is it's like when you know you're in a dream. If you try too hard you wake up but if roll with it, it just flows. I wish I could feel like that when ever I picked up an instrument.

I'm not out yet

A little rock diddy I've been working on. This is the direction I want to be headed in.  This was super fun to do and I plan on keeping this around a while. So like a couple of my other things I want to come back and revisit this when I am a better musician. So this track is all me bass, drums, and guitar. I could see getting vocals on here, I just have no ambition at this point to take a crack at lyrics. I wouldn't mind trying to sing but lyrics...meh. Garage Needed

Doing this as a hobby.  I just like the idea of making music and it be online. Also I love coming across raw talent and underappreciated artists. 

Growing up I always had a curiosity for music. I was never serious about being a musician but always thought it would be awesome to have my own studio one day. Well now I'm a semi-stable adult that is ready to have a constructive hobby. Plus considering how much technology has changed attaining a basic version of a childhood dream is so much more achievable. 

Most of my musical experience is playing bass guitar. I've dabbled with guitar, piano, and clarinet. Now though I want to dive deeper into guitar and piano as well as a drum set. Even though I enjoy singing by myself (or karaoke after a few drinks) Its my lowest priority. Also I'm just getting used to using a DAW which feels like picking up additional instruments as well. 

My goals for joining soundcloud is to just grow as a musician. Long term goals are to write for every genre and be a multi instrumentalist. Short term goals are to get stuff I've written on bass, guitar, and piano online. 

My 'mainstream' influences are Serj Tankian, Sia, Tech N9ne, R.A. The Rugged Man, Immortal Technique, Alexi Laiho, Dimebag, Victor Wooten, Les Claypool, Fieldy of Korn, Buckethead, (hed) p.e., and Sully from Godsmack. Oh and Dave Groll too!


During my short time on this platform it's been great. Theres alot of great music here. Lately it's been users like you that have been the most inspiring. I completely appreciate every listen, like, repost, or comment. Also I look forward to listening to your music too.
