Proud Brooklynite Adam X is one of the most pivotal figures in techno. As a founding father of the US rave scene with his brother Frankie Bones, he played hard and fast in the early years before losing himself in industrial. Having very much driven the revival of interest in that style, he remains at the sharp edge of the scene from his current home in Berlin, where he continues to turn out raw and visceral sounds on his Sonic Groove label.

It is a timeless two hour selection that covers deeper techno as well as the sheet metal synths and hammering beats Adam is known for. Podcast 004 comes straight from techno veteran DJ Pete. If you want to trace the beginnings of DJ Pete's status in Techno culture, you have to go back a very long way. He emerged as a DJ in the pioneering days of the Berlin scene during the late 80s. He's known for combining highly individual yet refined mixing skills with both his vast encyclopedic techno knowledge and an unquenchable thirst for new sounds that carry the potential to push all boundaries.

That is played out across this 76 minute mix. Enjoy the ride.

Awakenings Festival 2020 lineup release - Reinier Zonneveld (Live)

Tonight we're celebrating Possession –– one of Europe's most important queer techno communities –– with a 5hr section from last weekend's marathon in Paris. First up: resident Parfait.

Swedish born SPFDJ is a renegade spirit and ruthless DJ. She describes her own style as "trashy" and has said before that she disregards anything that might sound happy. To that end, she brashly bangs together techno, EBM, acid, industrial and trance in provocative and confrontational ways. She does so at her residency at Berlin's Herrensauna and also runs her own Intrepid Skin label, both of which are defined by big, banging kick drums.  

And so is this mix. 75 minutes of blistering textures, serrated synths and hammering drums that make for an impenetrable wall of ever evolving sound. As unrelentingly forceful as it is, monotony stays at bay thanks to the quick mixing and variation in mood, from marching and militant to acid and electric. Strap in, hold tight, and prepare for the ride of your life.
