Electrodry Jingle [Tile & Grout]

This achingly beautiful song was originally recorded by Split Enz, then covered by Missy Higgins and Pearl Jam.   My friend, Ian, and I had a bash at it too, basing our version on Missy's.

ANY interpretation would stir the soul, but this one's especially poignant for me:  my dearest friend - whom I lost - loved this recording.

The Tale:

Back in 2000 I made an authentic re-creation of Pete Townshend's famous keyboard track for 'Won't Get Fooled Again'.

As most fans know, when The Who played the song live they fed the pre-recorded keyboard part into the mix.  Strictly speaking, the keyboard AND acoustic guitar parts were mixed in, and this is what I've reproduced for folks who want to use it with their own bands.   (Also included are the hand-claps from the break that precedes the "I move myself and my family aside" bridge.)

As with The Who, for your band to sync with the backing, your drummer must be listening to a click track.   I've created a separate file for that purpose.

PLEASE NOTE:  the audio on this page has the backing and click tracks COMBINED so you can evaluate them both.   And it's only a 3.5 minute sampling of the full track.

(Everybody's Got) Somebody

The Tale:

Pretentious? Moi?!

This is a micro-opera, about the shared karmic destiny of two souls.

Throughout the ages they incarnate, find each other, become lovers, and bind themselves to one another. But an inability to accept each other's differences causes their relationships to implode.

They disincarnate, they come back, they repeat... ad infinitum.

Eventually, in a moment of spiritual clarity, 'Wisdom' intervenes. Whispering into their souls, It explains the reason for their eternal circle-dance:  to learn to love one another unconditionally. They realise their long, shared history of suffering was 'divinely engineered' to give them the right opportunities for learning this lesson and therefore evolving spiritually.

And so the lesson is finally learned. And, like all good spiritual paradoxes, having finally arrived at Unconditional Love, the two are freed of one another, permitted by karma to break the wheel of reincarnation.

Did I mention I might be a pretentious git?
