Swedish happy-punks Jaspiloterna was, and still is the creators and the loudest voices of the punk sub-genre tagged dansbandspunk. The bands sound was from the start in -92 loud and crudely performed, yet with a polished surface, as well as an instrumental virtuosity allowing a mix of genres in a neck breaking pace. The vast musical variety and the universality of the lyrics made Jaspiloterna appealing to a broad audience, earning vocalist Mankan, guitarist Jonte, basist Mojje and drummer Körven a cult status in the Gothenburg area. The groups inclination towards ingenious and ironical lyrics, instead of a typical punk political agenda, was a source to misunderstandings in the beginning.
By the middle of the1990s the members of Jaspiloterna was ready to make a full-length record, only to find themselves in a legal dispute with the swedish air force regarding the group name. The process went on for several years and was not solved by the time of the bands break-up in 1999. The record "Greatest Hits" was released after the split, under the name "Johansson's Artistsällskap Piloterna", to avoid further juridical problems.
In 2007 Mankan, Jonte and Körven started to rebuild Jaspiloterna. This second wave included Jani (Jani Korkiasaari) on bass guitar and restored their reputation as a cult act, both regaining their old audience and attracting a new. The first full-length album "In Sound of Music" came in 2017.
