Javi Frias has earned a solid reputation as a producer on the international disco scene since he began releasing his edits and reworks back in 2015. However, this year, during confinement, he decided to put editing aside to unleash his creativity and start recording his own productions, playing with synthesizers, electric pianos, syncopated basses and tribal percussion, and the result is this 'Sunset Disco EP'. A collection of songs that take us to a summer sunset on a beach in paradise that represent a huge leap in the career of this artist. The A side begins with 'Give Love', a hedonistic and melancholic disco song, followed by 'Noche Tropical', with Balearic overtones and reminiscences of a Caribbean party. Side B opens with 'Are You Really Fellas?', a funky little number featuring jazzy guitars and smashing bass. 'Dance With Me' brings us back to the field of the emotional and evocative disco. And finally 'Musical Connection', with touches of reggae downtempo perfect to say goodbye to this eternal and warm sunset.

Spanish DJ, producer and Night Shift records boss Javi Frias presents a new EP of disco edits that take the vibes of the 70s and re-fit them for the current dancefloor. As you might imagine, each of the four tracks seemingly has PARTY stamped across it in giant capital lettering, from the opening stomper 'Hot Damn!' with its bright-as-a-button brass section and the wah wah guitar of 'Dance To The Music' to the proto-house of 'The Spirit'. But the best is saved to last - the bendy funk bassline gymnastics of 'Feel Good', quite irresistible.

SHIFT 012 // Javi Frias - The Spirit EP // Night Shift Records

Madrid-based edit stable Night Shift have invited Never Dull back for another volume of Discollection heaters, pitching classic, funkified grooves towards the peak time. This is disco house in full flight, kicking off with the joyous 'Cool Love' before slinking down into the heated, late night seduction of 'Get A Little'. 'Want My Love' kicks off the B side on a decidedly sentimental tip, but not at the expense of the beat, and 'Whatever U Want' turns up the pressure for a romp through pumping, vocoder licked goodness that would get a Daft Punk fan shaking their thing, no sweat.

Sin embargo, este año, durante el confinamiento, decidió dejar de lado la edición para dar rienda suelta a su creatividad y empezar a grabar sus propias producciones tocando sintetizadores, pianos eléctricos, bajos sincopados y percusión tribal, y el resultado es este 'Sunset Disco EP'. 

Una recopilación de canciones que nos trasladan a un atardecer de verano en una playa paradisíaca que suponen un gran salto en la carrera de este artista. La cara A comienza con 'Give Love', una canción disco hedonista y melancólica, seguida de 'Noche Tropical', con tintes baleáricos y reminiscencias de una fiesta caribeña. El lado B se abre con 'Are You Really Fellas?', un pequeño número funky con guitarras de jazz y bajos deslumbrantes. 'Dance With Me' nos devuelve al terreno de la discoteca emotiva y evocadora. Y por último 'Musical Connection', con toques de reggae downtempo perfecto para despedirnos de este eterno y cálido atardecer.

Discotizer April 2022 Mix by Javi Frias

German DJ and producer Delfonic has been putting out great edits and reworks for some time on labels like Razor-N-Tape, Too Slow To Disco, or Nomada, but he has gained great recognition thanks especially to the Illegal Jazz series with his friend Kapote from Toy Tonics. Now comes his debut for Night Shift Records with an EP of four edits entitled 'The Journey Reworked' that reveals all his good work when it comes to giving new life to classic tracks and making them perfect for today's dancefloors. Side A opens with 'Boogie On', a classic that never fails with its funky guitar and signature piano, followed by 'It's Dancing Time', a dark dance track full of tropical disco vibes. On the B-side we find 'Bring On The Music', a perfect example of a funky disco rework with great voices and melodies, and to close 'The Mass Fire', an authentic hurricane of funky rhodes, boogie horns and crazy rhythms that will make you dance until dawn.

Discotizer Summer 2023 Mix by Javi Frias

Javi Frias is an artist devoted to the culture of disco. 
His musical journey began when he started collecting funky records as a young soul boy in his hometown of Madrid. 
Now he travels the world, spreading love, and rocking parties, through his eclectic DJ sets full of sultry disco edits, boogie bombs, and soulful house sounds. 
As a producer, he has recently started making noise with a series of impressive edits and reworks, which have been published on a handful of EPs and singles with influential labels including Street Edits, Tropical Disco, Midnight Riot, and Boogie Café. 
His music has been supported by disco heavyweights such as Danny Krivit, Red Greg, Horse Meat Disco, Jacques Renault and Dave Lee, whom he has also shared the decks with at his own famed Discotizer parties. 
Connecting all the disco dots, Javi also has his own label ‘Night Shift Records’ where he has predominantly released a series of his own club ready re-edits, as well as working with Never Dull, Delfonic, Solazz and Chassé.

Alberto De Santiago has already slipped out a few killer edit-rich hits, which drew favourable attention from Spanish label Night Shift. He launches the Discollection EP with the soul-soaked feel-good flavour of "Love Sauce," steeped in the finest disco ingredients to inspire impassioned expression on the floor. The heat stays right up for "Since I've Been Gone", which is packed full of Philly strings aplenty and enough dramatic drops and chops to melt even the hardest frown. "Most Expensive Diamond" and "All The Way" have that magic touch too these are loud and proud vocal edits to get people dancing on the ceiling. You can't go wrong with classic source material like this. Never Dull indeed.

Since making his bow on Street Edits six years ago, Javi Frias has delivered a string of fine rework EPs for the likes of Midnight Riot, Tropical Disco and, most frequently, his own Night Shift imprint. Here he returns with his first EP of 2021, a typically club-ready selection of re-edits. The fast-rising Spanish producer hits the ground running with a sweaty, subtly beefed-up take on an old Controllers classic (the house-style revision that is 'Universal Sound'), before delivering a more reverential - but no less rolling - revision of a lesser-known disco-funk cut 'On Fire'. 'Guitar Jam' lives up to its' name - think loose-limbed disco-funk featuring effects-laden guitars -while 'Really Need To Talk', a sublime rearrangement of a 1970s modern soul gem, is our pick of a very strong bunch.

Javi Frias is a well respected DJ and producer from the disco and house scene. He began collecting and playing records as a young ‘soul boy' at the end of the nineties in Madrid, his hometown, and since then he has not stopped traveling to share his music through many venues, clubs and festivals worldwide. New York, Cairo, London, Mexico City, Paris, Barcelona, Washington DC, Amsterdam or Berlin are some of the places where he has had the opportunity to carry out his incendiary, eclectic and danceable sets full of disco, boogie, afro, funk, house and soulful sounds.

In the past few years he has begun to make noise at international level thanks to his edits and reworks, published a handful of EPs and singles on influential labels like Street Edits, Tropical Disco Records, Giant Cuts, Midnight Riot, Boogie Café or Bons Records. His music is played and charted regularly by top DJs such Danny Krivit, Detroit Swindle, Red Greg, Horse Meat Disco, Jacques Renault, Rahaan, Marcel Vogel, Folamour, Get Down Edits, Frank Booker...

In 2017 he started his own label Night Shift Records, devoted to edits and reworks of disco and house, where he has released in vinyl and digital his own productions and occasionally the work of other fellow producers. He's also part of the mysterious Disco Pocho label, focused on the soul and funk side of the disco edit, where he has already released a couple of 7”.

He is currently resident DJ and booker of Discotizer, the best disco, boogie and house party in Spain, where he has invited and shared the decks with artists like Louie Vega, Joey Negro, Danny Kirivit, Eli Soul Clap, Detroit Swindle, Rahaan, Red Greg, HMD, Eli Escobar, Dan Shake, Medlar, Jacques Renault, Get Down Edits, Marcel Vogel, Ron Basejam, Art Of Tones, Luxxury, Alkalino, Eddie C, Faze Action, Dicky Trisco, The Revenge, Mr. Mendel, Alexander Nut, Ray Mang, Kon, Luke Solomon, Melvo Baptiste, Dr. Packer...
