La Reina de las Flores es un vals sinfónico de delicada esencia y espíritu romántico. A través de su música, Pérez Garrido pretende expresar la idea del amor platónico de juventud. Simbólicamente, las flores representan la belleza efímera de la vida al mismo tiempo que su reina alude directamente a la amada elegida para vivir el idilio. Su estética, puramente influenciada por los grandes valses del Romanticismo austriaco, permite al oyente disfrutar una composición de amplias dimensiones cuya forma estructural descansa sobre nueve secciones compositivas de carácter variado.

This work has several influences by american music and orchestration styles. By listening to it we can imagine one of the famous Hollywood films. "Obertura Heroica" is a heroic and triumphant overture divided into three big sections -plus an introduction with a solo played by a trumpeter-. Interventions by brass and percussion instruments are really important as well as the gentleness and romanticism that prevails in the second section and is transformed into a passionate and magnificent chorale before starting the last part of this work. The original version, for symphony orchestra, was commissioned by Murcia Youth Orchestra (OJRM) in 2008. The concert band version was premiered by Banda da Armada Portuguesa in 2016.

Composer, conductor, clarinetist and teacher, Javier Pérez Garrido has been awarded more than 30 prizes, including the Hollywood Music in Media Awards, the Global Music Awards in California, the Akademia Music Awards in Los Ángeles, the Jerry Goldsmith Awards or the International Composition Contest of Symphonic Music 'Vila de Muro', among others. Music institutions and musicians around the world, such as the International Trumpet Guild, the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra or the Banda da Armada Portuguesa have commissioned him to write new pieces, some of them published and recorded in Cd´s (Molenaar, Cimarron Music Press, Egge Verlag, Piles), and his compositions have been premiered and performed in European as well as American and Asian countries. As a clarinetist he played with the European Union Youth Wind Orchestra, the Ostrava New Orchestra, the Spanish Youth National Orchestra or the Murcia Youth Orchestra, among others, and as a soloist we can highlight his performance at Fifteen Minutes of Fame, New York.
